Space

I don’t know why my parents filed annual report cards from school, certificates for extracurricular activities, photographs clicked ceremoniously on birthdays.

I added peacock feathers, pressed leaves between pages, toys, diaries and books for keepsake.

I plan to clean the attic today. I need space for my grown-up self.

  1. I remember saving a bunch of four-leaf-clovers, thinking they’d eventually bring me luck. I had to leave everything behind when I was 17, but now I can see how that necessary shedding of my youth did let me grow into an adult without that weighing me down.
