I check on the guest list once again.
The pool is cleaned up, chairs in place, ice buckets and glasses laid out, and the aroma of fresh food emanating from the catering enclosure. I want this party to be perfect – before the water freezes.
I check the phone to see if somebody is dropping out with a last minute excuse.
“Liz, I’m sorry to say this, but …..”
Just as expected…… Life and relationships are never perfect. Hence, I do whatever I can to make it happy, before winter sets in. It could be the last winter of my life.

I always love a twisty ending – but winter is coming for us all, is it not? Your writing never disappoints – thank you so much for faithfully joining in our 100 Word Wednesdays. I’m restarting them next week, April 1, 2020 – hope to see you there ❤

My eyebrows are raised.
Straightforward telling of a story, but the emotions are there, roiling below the surface.
Thanks for writing this, Reena.
Have a great day.
Robert.

It says something about the protagonist. She could be old or terminal. Seasons are a metaphor. Thanks for dropping by!
