Patriotism

“Job completed as per instructions. Flag raised to the recommended height, and set to fly at the stipulated time…”

This is another routine report the Admin Head checks every day at work. But today is different. The employee who executed the task has been sacked, and his own job is at stake.

“What the hell was done wrong? The President is visiting today.”

“Who changed the flag?”

How could they forget they were in another country, and at risk of being held hostages?

    1. Symbols are needed – yet can be used to manipulate emotions. Riots are caused here by a pig let into a prayer area, or beef found somewhere. Human lives are sacrificed, so that a politician benefits.

      1. Those who don’t shout nationalism jail peoe for cartoon, for questions for chanting slogans. It is not ideology but misuse of power.

        1. Somewhere, dividing the world in two narrow segments (if you don’t belong here, then you belong there) has caused damage. The non-aligned movement died with the collapse of the Soviet Union. People who are non-aligned find it hard to convince others that they are not enemies – just humans with independent thought.
