A life
steeped in misery
wasted in regret
failure in
expectation management….
Who set the bar for me?
Am I obliged
to take those steep stairs
to reach where I din’t want to be
earn a success label
which fails to make me happy?

Yes, sometimes the climb is just that. The destination isn’t always a reward. Your quadrille is food for thought.

I wonder who manages our expectations… maybe learning more each day is what matters most.

Insightful, Reena. Who did indeed set the bar? A question I’ve asked myself many times. Expectations can sure trip us up.

I can imagine the frustration: “to reach where I din’t want to be”

There is a story of a caterpillar who reached the pinnacle after a lot of effort, and found there was nothing at the top. The other four who were there convinced him to stay quiet, as ‘people down below’ do not know of the emptiness, and those who reached are hailed as achievers. Meanwhile, the femake caterpillar he ‘dumped’ for ambition, has blossomed into a butterfly, by just being, not doing anything.

And at the top he might have met his “friend” the sparrow. 🐛 🐦

Good story! A lot of our effort gets us to places that were not worth going to.
