The bird flew away today, and I saw the wistfulness in Kitty’s eyes – it was not hunger, or the disappointment of a missed prey.
She was known as Universal Mom at the farm. Other than her own children, she had mothered a sparrow and a puppy, and both would not leave their cat mother.
I recalled the wet and scared kitten my son had brought home one morning, and we had nursed her back to health and confidence – the warm-hearted cat that Kitty is today. Mothering other babies at the farm is not just the kindest act, but she has repaid me in kind with her deeds.
I bow in gratitude.

Beautiful story! Thank you for sharing. 🙂

They do. Humans lack this spirit sometimes.

how strange is it, not that there’s any real similarity between our respective Sixes… except attributing the emotion of ‘wistfulness’ to a loved animal…. like they say, ‘synchronicity is the flutter of the veil of reality’.

Couldn’t find your Six. Is it on Inlinkz?

Was this based on a cat you had? So sweet!

Sweet she is! I had to send them to a friend’s farmhouse, as urban apartment dwellers (my neighbors) found their presence distasteful.
