Writer’s Musings

What do you do when a writing prompt just does not speak to you?

  1. Research the topic
  2. Wait for a day, and see what others have come up with
  3. Reblog and share the prompt, and let others enjoy the same
  4. Feel obliged to participate, and come up with something
  5. Flex your imagination and writing muscles and come up with an excellent piece
  6. Write a mediocre post, which you may not appreciate a day after
  7. Lament that your blog is not strong enough to attract viewers, unless you participate in writing prompts
  8. Think about the lowered statistics next morning and force yourself to write something
  9. Ignore the prompt, and attend to more urgent business waiting for you
  10. Analyze statistics and see which kind of blogs have attracted maximum engagement. Then, you chalk out a writing strategy for future.

  1. I feel for you when it comes to the stats – not only in ‘not responding’ but in choosing which ones to dedicate my time. I hate choosing a prompt just because it’s from a popular giver when there are so many unknown creators out there too…

  2. when I see the prompt, I don’t read any other blogger before I attempt my own idea. there have been many times, I fail with coming up with the prompt. I research on the meaning, sometimes the synonym or the antonym and then write what applies to me. I write what I understand from the prompt. this week MLMM first line was challenging for me. It had a sad tone. But I wanted to make it opposite with the base remaining sad and then developed it on a happy note. No, I don’t lament if my posts do not attract the readers. I think and ask someone close to me if the post I wrote had any flaw, was it understandable or if it was not appealing. I read blogs to inspire myself with how people attempt to the prompts in their own understanding. on the final note, if a writing prompt does not speak to me, I speak to it. how can I just let it go? 🙂 this was wonderful reena.. thanks for the Questions
