It was the first time in life she felt hurt. The grubby hand extended to feed a biscuit to a guest was ignored. She was all of thirteen months old.

Her expertise in piling up toys in the living room was ignored. She dressed well for school with a bright ribbon, but it was not allowed in the uniform.

Her confidence took a bigger beating, when she was not allocated the mechanical engineering stream. Being compelled to comply killed all initiative.

And that is how the cookie crumbled.
