The sleuth had never read a whole book in many years, and this was a series. But it held important clues to the investigation into the dead man’s life.
He took time to read a little every day, till he started seeing shadows of his own self on the pages. Who was this abandoned child the author referred to, and had kept tabs on, all his life?
OMG! The man had committed suicide only so that the sleuth could reach the diaries. The dead man was his long-lost father.

OMG! Superb SSS.

Oh, my gosh. What an incredibly shocking and sad revelation for the son. I wonder if it provided any closure for him? or did he have even more questions?
Very thought provoking Six Sentence Story.

Diaries and journals are full of unexpected information. I hope that the man won’t follow in the footsteps of his father to the unhappy ending.

Yeah.. but diaries are outdated now. A sleuth’s job is easier with social media accounts and blogging sites 🙂

How sad to think that diaries, as you say, have been largely replaced by social media. I don’t think that Facebook would ever provide the depth of revelation and reflection that a well written diary records. Where social media is about presenting a carefully crafted face to the world, diary entries I think were written more for the writer and capture the unvarnished truth. Until I read your comment, I hadn’t really thought about how likely it is that fewer people might be keeping diaries now that they have social media. I am going to be mulling this over for quite a while.

It is called ‘journalling’, and used as a tool in coaching. Not sure how many other ‘Anne Frank’ diaries are being created. My diary written in school records the petty quarrels I had with playmates. I had a good time recalling those now, when we are planning a reunion meet.
I referred to social media, because FB does throw back memories, and we realize how much we have changed in the last few years. I read old posts on LinkedIn, and think that I cannot write the same thing again.
