Hazy Outlook

“The view is hazy. Does the sky always look like this after a nuclear test?”

“Remove the grain from the picture, and add a new one. What goes out in the media should be palatable.”

“Aahh, the media… they don’t understand science.”

“How can they? Nobody has done it so close to a city before.”

We could sense turmoil in the stratosphere. It was certainly not the same.

“Draft a suitable story blaming the enemy nation for chemical warfare. Be quick, all focus should be directed outside the country.”

“There is no other option.”

Our sighs were laced with self-pity.

  1. That’s a killer last line “Our sighs were laced with self-pity.” That makes the point so strongly that both scientists and media people have a responsibility to prevent the abuse of what they do. Self-pity is no good. Great expression of a crucial insight, Reena!
