Haibun

A Haibun it is for me – a prose/poetry format that offers full scope for expression. I enjoy where it takes me. At times, I write the culminating haiku first, and build up the prose later. Variations like prose and poetry sandwiches, alternating verse too, work well. Poetic prose is different, but can be woven into the format.

The experience of writing is akin to the concrete, defining structure of a mountain coming together with the freedom of the ocean to create magic on a canvas.

I enjoyed the different pronunciations of the word in different countries – ranging from ‘hay-bun’ to ‘ha-ee-bun’, or something that sounds like ‘ha-ee-ba’.

A blooming garden indeed ….
