Filtered images

A strange smell emanated from the place. The lighting was different, not dim, and made people look like pale shadows of themselves. I felt uneasy, as I could not see the exact outline that shaped bodies. It appeared as if they wore a halo all around. Maybe, a filter from one of those silly apps had been adapted by the owner of this place. Just another whacky marketing gimmick!

I stopped to ask the doorman in a fancy costume,

“Hey, is it a convention here, not to use the word close?”

“Have you just arrived?”, he gave me an unexpectedly welcoming look, “You see, souls are meant to be eternal. They don’t come with an expiry date. But we don’t want our life beyond 6.30 pm to go public. The paparazzi is not far away from anywhere. So we have put some rules and regulations in place.”

A feeling of lightness overtook me. I was no longer defined or bound.
