There was a deathly chill in the air. The leaves peeped like frightened lambs from under the snow. The moon looked a pale yellow, as the street lights cast reddish shadows around.
Inspector Sharman stopped in his tracks. The shape of the mound of the snow suggested the presence of something suspicious beneath it.
“Officers, shovel the snow out. There is a clue here.”
“Somebody called from inside that house.”
“It does not matter. Check this first.”
A few strokes revealed frozen pink lines in the snow. Streaks of blood…..
His instincts had never failed him in all these years.

A murder mystery, blood on snow. Left me wanting to know how the murder happened and who the victims was.

“The leaves peeped like frightened lambs from under the snow.” Loved this line. Looks like your Inspector Sharman is a first cousin of my Inspector Sharma.

Sharma seemed a little too familiar, so I added the n 🙂

I also felt that blanket of snow had its secrets. I’ve never experienced snow in a residential setting. No surprise that we don’t get much snow in Australia outside the snowfields. I was going to have a murder but my version took a different twist.
BTW, I really loved this line: “The leaves peeped like frightened lambs from under the snow.”
Best wishes,
Rowena

If you see the image carefully, the tree on the left has some impressions on the leaves. Thanks for the appreciation!

If I decide to commit a crime I’ll make sure it’s not on Inspector Sharman’s patch! Excellent Reena.

As a detective he should go far – but his humanity is doubtful. Surely he should investigate the cry from the house?

He could at least have delegated the task.

My first reaction to this photo was very similar, but I felt Zing and Zang calling to me 🙂 That mound of snow does look pretty creepy!

Lovely imagery of leaves like frightened lambs. I hope Inspector Sharman eventually gets his guy. Or gal.
