My efficient and disciplinarian mother often insulted my grandparents.
“I tell you, Jim, these two have lost their marbles. What on the earth was Pop doing under the bed?”
The language perturbed me, and it was harsher than the manners I expected from her. I often came home late from the playground, and hid my marble collection in Grampa’s room.
I hope she has not found out….

Absolutely brilliant Reena – that last line was inspired.

Fantastic Reena and good use of the prompt. I can see a kid being worried that if they had lost their marbles then perhaps hers had gone missing also. Still smiling.

It’s my first time to open a six-phrase competition post; I feel I’m lucky, I am amazed by how much you can express by the unexpressed. You are an inspiration, Reena

Look around for more. There are contests for 3 liners, one liners and 280 characters as well 😊. Thanks for the compliment!

i love (as I remember it) the incredibly literal minds of the young… at that age, everything was as the word described!

The young care about their allies or partners-in-crime, whoever the disciplinarian is :). Thanks for reading and commenting!
