The butler served a perfect meal at the dining table. As usual, Suma did not share the meal. I see her picking on a salad leaf and gulp Diet Coke, and notice the fine lines on her face. She tells me about her day, in a rather staid, informative manner.
βShall we go to Thane for a weekend?β I interject.
βAnd do what?β
βJust roam around the place. The coffee shop where we first met still exists. I checked on Google. Some students have hired the apartment we had first moved in. They are not at home during the day, and I will ask them to leave the key at the building reception.β
Suma looked perplexed,
βYou want to go to that apartment?β
βYeahβ¦. an idle thought. Maybe that white mug still lies there. Remember your first attempt at making a cupcake, and the mix spilling over? It was a novel concept.β
Suma laughed, and for a moment, the romance in their life had returned. I moved towards her, unmindful that the butler was watching.

A hopeful story. Well done.

Suma is a lucky lad who has a partner who is trying to rekindle the romance back into their monotonous life. A heart-warming story from your pen, Reena.

Sweet story. At least he is trying and did get a good response from her. Perhaps a little trip down memory lane will help them realize how far they have come and that they can continue their journey of life together.

Growing apart is just circumstantial at times. It needs a little effort to arrest the drift.

Good one, Reena. At least they are not throwing in the towel just yet.

There’s clearly still a bit of a spark in their relationship, let us hope the visit starts flames of passion.
