Madhu was shocked to find her loving husband gone from the house, leaving a note saying that he still loved her, but could not bear to live with her.
She was well into her forties, still beautiful, her house was well-kept, and she won plaudits for being the best hostess in town. Her only grouse against her husband was his untidy habits, which often led to a venomous exchange of words. She read the note again, extra carefully, and observed his willingness to meet all expenses of her extravagant lifestyle, and the desired alimony.
The silly doctors had diagnosed her as suffering from an obsessive compulsive disorder, which of course, she did not accept.
She just could not let the small things slip by.

Sounds like she has her own ideas of what is worth clinging to. Nicely done.

Madhu’s character is so well-etched in few words that I could visualize her examining her surroundings with a magnifying glass. well done Reena.

But she didn’t see the choice until it was too late…let the small things slip by, or the big one? So sad. Nice six!

So sad she couldn’t see herself as she was seen by others and try to accept help that could have been offered.
Great story using the cue word.

Thanks, Pat! I happened to know a person, who was not divorced, but led a difficult life in the twilight years, as everybody found her so intolerable.

Everyone has their breaking point and apparently he reached his. You can only help a person so much, and it is up to them to except the help and try to change. This was not just a minor adjustment for him, so after a certain length of time he must have realized he was fighting a losing battle. Sad. Great story.
