I love drenching myself in the cool waters on a beach in summer, but getting out and getting sunburnt is hell. I do not like the sand getting in my shoes either. Do I opt for this vacation, or plan a trip to the mountains?
Vacations are a lovely time to reflect, if I can vacate the mind enough for it. Life has been all about making choices. The sunburns, frostbites, fading pictures and the warmth of memories have all resulted from choices made at that point of time.
But above all, it was important to strike the right balance between vulnerability and insulation.

I prefer a smooth rock to a beach or to be on the water in a kayak…

I prefer the mountains, but I choose to let others in my family choose where we go on vacation. I agree that we need balance between vulnerability and insulation.
