Self-inflicted

It is terrifying to see him slip into depths of insanity. Others-centeredness has destroyed his core. The youngest child raised in a large, joint family – he was taught that being good meant being obedient and servile. He always needed a god to worship, and a cult to follow. Shorn of deities after his parents … Continue reading Self-inflicted

We talk of communing with Nature, but ’tis with ourselves we commune… Nature furnishes the conditions – the solitude – and the soul furnishes the entertainment.

John Burrough

A lonely, broken down house sat at the edge of the woods, its windows boarded, its roof partially exposed to the elements, its occupants roosting in the rafters or hiding in secret holes bored into the walls. The house could feel the ghosts of past occupants still wandering its hallways.

It wasn’t always so. Seventy years ago a stranger came to the woods, felled trees and lovingly constructed the house with hard work and fine craftsmanship. He had married, raised a family, made the house a loving comfortable home and took care of its every need for decades. But time moves on, as did the children, and when the parents died the house…

Childhood Home

Childhood home …. by VJ Knutson

VJ's avatarOne Woman's Quest

The place remains in my dreams
like a movie set preserved…

Have assigned each room
a critique – disclosed the crimes

Yet, it remains, like a beacon
draws me to it, begs reflection

What if I could go back
now that I can breathe

Now that I’ve laid claim to maturity
would I discover a sudden windfall

makeover conditioned motifs
reevaluate ceiling heights

with resources to remodel
heart open, connected

might I uncover abundance
like a personal embrace.

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #134 – a happy home

Lady Lee’s take on Exploration Challenge #134

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “Game Prayer” by Al Ortolani: boys, spiral, prayer, door, glimmering, moment, forgive, seeing, world, splash, run, helmets

With a splash my boys come and go
Seeing the world as they all grow
Giving them such a happy home
Where they learn to run and forgive
Every moment good atmosphere
With our prayer they’re free to roam
Wear their helmets outside the door
Spiralling doing their chore
My boys, Edward, Gary, Jerome*

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #134 — Happy Home

Happy Home …. by Jade Li/Lisa

A happy home
A fuzzy nest
A comfy place
Where one can rest

It makes me smile
To know we’re there
As love has perched
Eternal fair

Delicate yet
Tough are the blooms
Whose fragrance touch
Each of the rooms

We have no fear
As when we said
Forevermore
Our love we pledged.

Our bond we swore
Our family
Our happy home
True blessings be.

Particles of Infinity

Home is bliss, and will always be. But the starkness outside seems to destabilize mind-sets. The air I breathe for sustenance, water I consume, vegetation and meat I need for survival, all comes from out there. The house was furnished with great care to make it a comfy, soul-satisfying refuge, but the soul now wants … Continue reading Particles of Infinity

~*~

Nestled right where my heart resides

Is a place that I call home

I am never away from it

As I carry it with me everywhere

That sense of belonging

The feeling of perfect ease

It travels with me, within me

So wherever I am

I am at home

In comfort

At ease

Nourishment

The monk has travelled across the world in search of meaning of life. Gone are the days when people congregated in an ashram to partake of wisdom… there are umpteen agencies to get him online and share his learnings. The digital marketing campaign lasts 90 days to generate a feeling of emptiness in people, and … Continue reading Nourishment
