Darkness holds light

Darkness holds light ….. by Aishwarya

Gates of my mind shut itself down,

At the first failure it met,

I cribbed, I cried,

I ranted, I rued,

I despaired, I dreaded,

I lost when,

I accepted defeat without nudging myself to try.

I broke boundaries when,

I shrugged myself away from shackles of shiver engulfing,

Darkness holds itself dear, only to let light shine through,

Not to defeat you.

You are the light, you shall shine through.

Outcome

Off and on, I was warned about the repercussions of being a free spirit. They label my natural state of being as rebellious, uncaring, un-emotional or whatever term they devise on the spur of the moment. I learnt soon enough that the problem is same on both sides - discomfort with not being in control. … Continue reading Outcome

Escape

Why should the people who love me, want to imprison me? I once thought they are afraid of losing me. I realised, a bit too late, that they are afraid of losing control over me. Control gives them a sense of power, makes them feel superior to me. Deep down, they know the reality is … Continue reading Escape

Marking Time

Chris Hall's avatarluna's on line

Days which merge
one into another
marking time
tied down
by new normal’s rope.

tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock…

A ray of light
spills through the bars
a gap for hope
to squeeze through.

tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock…

How long before
with the tiny prick
of a needle
we widen the chink
in covid’s armour
and creep through
to emerge, blinking
in the light?

tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock…

What do you see # 67 – February 1 2021

I hide in the dark shadow.
Small, afraid of the light
Things I see in the dark
Feel familiar, safe.
Whispers, comforting.
Scratching, claws on wood
Remind me there is life outside.
The dark bars drawn by the light.
I think of the Tower of London.
Traitors Gate, prison bars
Being held by shadowy thoughts
Too many nameless things
To make me feel small.
To shrink further into darkness…

Decisions need to be made before exiting.
What is waiting on the other side?
Will anyone meet me when I cross the threshold?
Do I reenter my old life and continue to do whatever I feel like doing no matter the consequences?
Or do I decide to do a 180 and change my path?
I’m too young to follow the trail of my unfortunate family members.
I am tired of traveling through this revolving experience.
I need to decide what my future will be.

To believe ~ a decima

To believe ….. read what s.s. has to say

s.s.'s avatarMindfills

Lighting up the way to heaven
she points her finger at the stars
arching herself to reach afar
humming a big dream to live in
rooted firm in truly being
all of the selves that she can be
even beyond her destiny
plunging into futures with care
calm, confident, with her feet bare
to make her choices. To believe.
