Welcome back!

PROMPT #196

The person I see in the mirror is not me. It hurts that I’ve lived with this stranger for so long.

Use the sentence above, or the spirit of it in your piece.

But there are days when I feel the person I see in the mirror is not the real me. Ifeel that I’ve lived with this stranger for so long, and have not been totally fair to her.

I smile at myself sometimes to see how I look while smiling at others. I make…

Crossdressing

Cross-dressing by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

The person I see in the mirror is not me.  It hurts that I’ve lived with this stranger for so long.  The face that looks back at me is that of a normal man, but I know I am perverted and I hide my secret in the closet.  I knew that liked dressing up in women’s clothes the day that I walked into my sister’s bedroom and saw her frilly dress hanging up in her closet and I had to try it on.  I knew it was wrong, but I wanted to feel it on my skin, so I took off all of my boy clothes and put her dress on.  I was so frightened that somebody would catch me, but I got away with my deviant behavior and I put her dress back in her closet.  I never had another incident, till after I was married.

Inspired by Reena’s Exploration Challenge #170 & Eugenia’s Weekly Prompt – Journey

my life, this winding and criss cross journey
enduring the setbacks nature often offers
forces an accounting of my true self’s mission

while i critiquely reflect within my soul
the revelation – the person i see in the mirror is not me
it hurts that i’ve lived with this stranger for so long

i vow…

no more continuing to plod along how other’s want me
i’ll take the reins now to forge paths more to my liking
my destiny means claiming my glory and being wholly present

Saif Ali Khan, the actor, son of Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and actress Sharmila Tagore, shares an anecdote from his youth. He asked his father for permission to take the car. His father said NO, but he heard GO, and took the car.

He was rebuked later as his father needed that particular car on the same day. He says his mother would have given a long speech explaining why he cannot take the car, and it would have registered fully, “This car is in the garage for servicing, and the other one will pick up your sister from school, so your Dad needs this one.” His Dad only spoke one word NO.

It’s not true that only women talk too much.

The jokes and memes have been designed by men, or those catering to a male audience. These are the guys who silently take in all…
