Fettered Memories!

Fettered Memories …..by Radhika

Somewhere in the deep crevices of my heart

percolating through the filters of thoughts, are scars hiding.

Though inconspicuous, they linger on, haunting me.

At the slightest trigger,  they elicit painful ripples,

mutating into a tempestuous ordeal.

I know not, how to release the hurt,

which seems to have imprisoned itself within me.

I wish the rains would wash them clean

or they would flow away in a burst of lachrymose deluge.

Perhaps the intense heat of the sun would burn them down

or I could just delete them with the press of a button.

Alas, the venomous fangs of toxic memories concocts its poison,

as a sinister vortex of diabolic emotion sucks me into it,

entrapping my mind, in a self-created web of despondency,

Filter ….by Lady Lee Manila

“What a tangled web we weave
when first we practice to deceive.”

If only we could filter out bad memories
Expressed conflicts that reached crises
Then we won’t have all the bitter cries
In quiet state disparage ourselves to rhapsodise
Enough bursting gusting emotion on the train
Our observational abilities are surely constrained
Why are we still keeping our fierce loyalty to them?
Are we by circumstances to spiritual exile condemn?
How could we untangle ourselves from their web?
The sand was firm and wide, the tide was on the ebb
When pieces of moments together springing out?
We realised something and we just want to shout
Are we deceiving ourselves to make us feel better?
Then perhaps it’s never too late to alter

their cries are haunting me
i wish i could filter out
or at least dim the torment
of the wailing
of those not yet pronounced dead
hopefully soon
shrieks reduced to whimpers
then silence
on hallow’s eve

Do you have a filter?

Do you have a filter?..
By Sadje

Sadje's avatarKeep it alive

Kids are naive, there is no filter on either their words or thoughts. But as they grow up, they are taught to put filters on their words. They may think things but they should not say what ever is on their minds.

We program our children like we were programmed. Think before you speak is one of the advice frequently given to us and then given by us to the young ones.

Is it right though?

Are we teaching hypocrisy to our kids? We may not like someone but we have to keep our feelings hidden to not offend them. If we blurt out the truth by mistake, we end up in hot water.

Growing up changes us. We lose the naivety and innocence of our childhood and learn tact. We learn to be diplomatic and filter our words before uttering them. We learn that being polite is more important…

Contradiction

Mom speaking in an event - “Alphabets becomes words and then emotions, pigments become vibrancy of art. Threads convert yarn to apparel, and innate personality traits become grace.” Son’s silent response - “Yeah, personality … do you see splinters of your barbed comments piercing my psyche?” Mom’s speech continues, “Treatment of the raw material matters, … Continue reading Contradiction
