Break times, in the factory, could be torture for some and a time to read for others. Locked minds felt bored. There was nothing they could do but ponder on what had gone wrong in their shift.

Bob, scrunching his eyes, thought about what he would do if he won the lottery. Last week he spent his wages trying to win that fortune, now he had no choice but to work.

Paul, leaning on his knees, couldn’t get over the argument with his production manager. All he did was moan about him being late on shift, or not being quick enough. He was sick of this treatment, but where else could he work. This was his seventh job in as many months.

Jack, reading his book, didn’t love his work, but it paid the bills. He was able to feed his family, give help to those…

Stine Writing and Miniatures's avatarStine Writing

once upon a time in a land far away
there were three hooded villains that had no place to stay
They walked all day and night to find something to do
They wandered the open fields and busy cities too.

Then all of a sudden the wind began to blow
The temperature was dropping and it began to snow
They headed for a cave to stay calm, warm, and dry
When the biggest of the three of them just began to cry

He said he didn’t like this, the running and the cold
He said his back was aching, that he was getting old
He wanted to go back home where he could rest his head
but in the morning when they woke the poor guy was dead.

Expanding His Mind

Expanding his mind …..by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

The three brothers Jerry, John and Joseph were all sentenced to 20 years in prison for smuggling drugs in from Mexico.  The triplets were cursed from birth, doomed to a life of crime, being poorly educated, and living in poverty.  Their dad disappeared when they were young and shortly after their mom was put behind bars for credit card fraud, so they became victims of the flawed foster care system having to deal with multiple guardians, advocates, social workers, courts and all the other BS.  Some of their foster parents were abusive and they felt unwanted and struggled with many other issues.  They decided that they would stick together, no matter what trouble they faced and anything that happened to them, just made their bond much stronger.

Joseph wanted to make something out of himself while he was incarcerated as he thought there was a high likelihood that he would…

Keep an open mind

Keep an open mind …. Sadje is first this week

Sadje's avatarKeep it alive

Both eyes and minds should be open

If we want to get anywhere in life

Put a lock on free thinking and you’ll stay stagnant

Close your eyes and you’ll literally be blind

If you are blessed with a mind capable of thinking

Don’t cripple it’s abilities by wearing a cap of darkness over it

If your eyes are functioning properly, why pretend to be blind

How we go through life, what we achieve here

Depends wholly on our attitude throughout our time on earth

Never waste the opportunities that come your way

Or close the doors life/ fate opens for you!

Unconfined

A drop in the ocean promises to stand by another, till it is swept away by a large wave and merged in strong currents. It meets other drops but is unable to identify its kith and kin that came from the same river of origin, their identities being merged and submerged by  stronger force. Life … Continue reading Unconfined

God exists ….by Jane Aguiar

Jane Aguiar's avatarLiterature World

desperate prayers
God is under pressure now
to show existence

water becomes ice
ice melts and becomes water
it’s reversible
water turns into the steam
steam turns back into water

silvery white silk
profuse feathers on the back
are you an angel?

Story hunt

“I give up”. Sylvia is gasping for oxygen, as she throws her shoes to settle down in the grass. She fails to notice my ashen face. The witch hunt has led us to monstrous insights. I came hunting for a story, but reality stares back at me - mercilessly, silently. The killer has left a … Continue reading Story hunt
