Close call …… by VJ Knutson
In dreamtime, he comes,
my eclectic animus –
sometimes raven,
often tree,
he seduces –
first in conversation
then in arousing flesh –
Spellbound, witless,
my edges soften, melt,
and just at the moment
of near surrender,
lucidity knocks,
yanks me from watery
depths – sets me back
on conscious soil –
Anchored anew,
I shake off the lingering
tingle, brain abuzz,
reconnect with aged
limbs, mundane ills
and skedaddle.

Quaint Lover … by Indira
Reena’s Exploration Challenge #72
prompt

Quaint Lover
go
grow
fly in the sky
explore the world
don’t hang to me
I’m rooted
immobile
you have wings to fly
don’t look at me
with sad eyes
I’m bad with goodbyes
but promise to me
When you are tired
your wings weak
feel lonely
and undesired
come back to me
I’ll always be there
waiting for thee
rest in my arms
I’ll sing a lullaby

The Perfect Man ……… by Michael

She thought of him the perfect man,

A man she liked to be with.
Her attraction was total, he dominated her thoughts
And he enjoyed her adoration.
They courted, and he impressed her father,
He was everything the father wanted in a husband
He would be the ideal son-in-law.
They married on a bright and sunny day,
The bride looked beautiful,
Friends and family came from near and far
It was a wonderful day of celebration.
Once they said their farewells
Drove off into their married life
Things began to change.
He questioned her conversation with men at the wedding
Demanded her attention, queried what she was up to
When out of the room doing what women must do.
Their home became her prison,
He paid her attention, solely for his own gain
He neglected her, found fault,
Blamed her for everything he…

She wasn’t supposed to go there by herself, certainly not alone. But there was a allure to the forest that she couldn’t resist. She stepped in the semi darkness and looked for the lake that she was told was in the middle of this dense forest. Her eyes took a while to get accustomed to the dim light. She approached cautiously avoiding the low hanging branches of the trees. Somewhere on the way, her dress got caught in a branch, or so she thought. She turned around to sort it out but the dress wasn’t…

I saw myself come alive in your imagination, whenever you sported that faraway, dreamy look in your eyes. I try to guess what you see, and then, try my best to become that person you fancy. (36 words)
“Have you ever seen lightning strike water, and electrocute life beneath?” “Not yet.” The fortune-teller spoke with a furrowed brow, “I foresee a clash of strong, opposing forces happening in your life, in the near future.” I recall the legal notice sent by the brother I trusted most in life, over an inheritance issue. It … Continue reading Foretold
