Prompt # 287- We have a collage to fire your imagination this week.

I bear the cross with courage and confidence,
Hide the unpleasantries under the petals of the flower
Solved the puzzles life throws brilliantly
But I'm not comfortable with loneliness
Friends inspire, motivate, encourage, share
I yearn for their company
Their presence gives me strength
I am a weakling,perhaps
Okay
I will bear the tag...

Fitting Into a Box

Fitting into a box ….by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

Ralph Waldo Emerson an American essayist, lecturer, popular philosopher, abolitionist, and poet said, “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment,” and although doing this may not be the greatest accomplishment ever, I think that this quote holds some merit.  We should all try to be real, keep our feet grounded, and accept the life that we have made for ourselves.  In order to be yourself, you first have to know who you are.  While some people have a strong sense of who they are, others may be left feeling that they don’t really understand their true selves.  Many people feel that the person who they are supposed to be is based on how other people perceive them and how they fit in with what societal norms say that this is what they should be.  Every person’s identity is…

PROMPT #288

There are three quotes below. Choose any one of them, and base your piece on it. You get brownie points for combining quotes.

To be yourself takes effort

To beat back the hoard of people

Who are trying to take away your identity

And change you into a clone of everyone else

~*~

To reach your goal, be your own inspiration

Shun the disbelievers, the naysayers and keep on

The path that leads to the destination you want to reach

If one path is blocked, change your directions, but don’t surrender your goal

~*~

Freedom of speech is important

The ability and independence to say the truth

To present the unpalatable reality to unwilling ears

But be prepared to grant the same courtesy to others as well

When they want to tell you their truth, their way

~*~

Your individuality is important

Your goal and destination is important

air;

Air ….by Melissa Lemay

Melissa Lemay's avatarMom With a Blog

Don’t hold my head down,
Telling me to submit to
Sheer authority;
I am one with Creator
therefore I am one.
I am guided without air
of your existence;
one name releases me from
your commands, you see.
I see thorns on your roses.
I won’t oblige quietly.

It Was More Than A Heartbreak

It was more than a heartbreak ….by Michelle Ayon Navajas

michnavs's avatarmichnavs

It Was More Than A Heartbreak

it was more than a heartbreak when you said “i’m way over you so i went,”
you went to dispose everything that reminds you of me-
from the pillow we once shared keeping our heads together dreaming on a summer day,
the sheets we ultimately thought would keep us warm together; while we struggle to snuggle,
you give them all –
it was more than a heart break to know,
it was easy to let go.

it was more than a heartbreak when you left,
you left just as i was running back to you;
the dreams we dreamed,
you took them all with you,
the memories we dared lived,
you burned them down,
down the drain;
the songs we shared and melodies we hummed,
you let it all out
out for the world to bid adieu;
you too had said your saddest goodbye,

From Reena: “We have a collage to fire your imagination this week.”

Fragranced by nature
temporary blossoms
Seasons changing
the cycle ongoing
Created to express
thoughts unsaid
Each step we take
our course it shapes
Stability in faith
balance maintained

like night for day
the skies for seas
this life for death
or you for me…
change is constant
as with time we learn
when balance sways
perhaps then we see
how truly
strong
weak
can
be

The paradox that’s a woman

The paradox that’s a woman …. By Sadje

Sadje/ Sadie's avatarKeep it alive

We have a collage to fire your imagination this week.

➰➰➰

She is often called the weaker sex

Weak?

She is stronger than how she looks

And she’s tougher than the macho man

Delicate and beautiful to look at certainly

But nerves of steel sheathed in silk, is she

Lifting heavy weights of all entrusted to her

Seldom you will hear her complaining

She bears her responsibility with aplomb

And leaves you admiring the paradox

That is woman- both delicate and strong

Strength

Strength ….by Diana Coombes

Inspiration from https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/2023/07/06/reenas-xploration-challenge-287/

A woman, who is okay about being alone, is a powerful woman.

She didn’t need anyone in her life right now, that was for sure. Her divorce; messy was putting it lightly. It wasn’t all Tom’s fault, but then it wasn’t hers either. Something had happened between her having Theresa, and growing apart. She told herself it didn’t matter if she were at home, looking after her child, while he was at work.

Losing part of herself, and it became clearer when her only child went to school. Before marriage, she worked as a manager in a computer firm. In charge of many, happy with her work.

Afterwards, being a housewife wasn’t for her.

Alone, like the tallest mountain peak, but there was a beauty in the ice. If you looked close enough, it had its own life. Breathing in, out, in a steady unison of power…
