Raising the White Flag

Raising the White Flag … By Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

I have struggled trying to get in touch with my feminine side for a long time, because I was always taught that men are supposed to keep their feelings to themselves.  The gender police force has caused me to suppress my emotions, because boys are not supposed to cry.  My therapist told me that I needed to explore my feminine side so that I could increase my ability to communicate on an emotional level with the women in my life.  Today I decided that I would change from being a heterosexual into being a metrosexual, in order to gain a new perspective on life.  I want to wake up the parts of me that are lying dormant and take a complete delight in immersing myself fully into my feminine energy and surrendering control to my deepest feelings.  I am not planning on abandoning my masculinity, but when the situation calls…

26 July: dVerse Ekphrastic Poetry

This poem by Misky struck a very deep chord with me – a woman afraid of her own sanity, while living with the other side of sanity.

Misky's avatarIt's Still Life

The Woman Who Lies with Rocks

This woman is terrified of her own sanity.
Some days, she thinks she looks like
Churchill’s bulldog, so she dresses in pink

because dogs don’t wear pink by choice,
and passerbys will smile and think,
There goes that lovely woman in pink.

But her sanity is a hatchery of anxiety.

Sanity makes her over-think,
makes her tongue thick and dry,
and it ignites storms in her brain.

It burns the way Earth sparks and smoulders.

She remembers her mother’s voice,
calming one moment and cackling
lunacy the next, and she remembers

lullabies and her mother rocking her to sleep.

So she waits for the lullabies to come.
Lies on the ground and sleeps with rocks,
thinking they’re meant to rock her to sleep.

Rain

Rain … by Aaki

Aaki's avatarPoetry & life musings

She stood in the cold night ,
Her arms clasped tight
As the rain was pelting ,
Her heart was melting
Soaked in his memories
Her heart was warm and light .

His laugh ,mesmerising like the sunrise.
That deep look in his eyes,
That gaze ,that set her heart ablaze;
He definitely was not just a phase.

As she waited for her ride,
She couldn’t stop smiling wide.
Her heart was pounding,
With the rain drops resounding.
She couldn’t wait to see his face
And soak up his warm embrace .

nature gifts a tune
drips the drops of rain to play
gentle beats to soothe

crystals clear - misted visions
rhythms soft - comforts silence

Water held by the clouds

has an ambition to join its friends

in rivers , lakes, and ponds

leaving the relative comfort of the clouds

travelling through the sky

till it meets terra firma

enjoy colour ? watch it paint

as it travels through the grey or blue

brightening it up in seven different shades

It rained

It rained …. On specialmomsblog and her garden

ganga1996's avatarSpecial Mom’s blog

A month of hot weather. The plants were sad. Their owner had been watering them from a watering can but they all wanted a shower from mother nature. With the smog it was much more difficult for them.

Usually they would get their blessings from Mother Nature at least once a week. But they could hear humans talking about climate change. They couldn’t understand a tiny bit and had their heads down. But it all changed one night. There was lightning and thunderstorms and more than an inch of rain showered on them. When humans closed their doors and slept scared of the lightning and thunderstorms the plants looked up in joy and started dancing.

The next day morning the zinnias had their first bloom. “We love our owner and his watering can but nothing can beat Mother Nature”, they said to each other.

Everlasting Ink: When this Story Ends

Everlasting ink – when this story ends

Rockstar Girl's avatarWhere Stories Can Spark Their Magic

When this story ends, Will I see myself again, as the one of me I never thought could ever leave, which was

The mermaid that longs for the looking of her soul

The one that thought therainof the water would never come again because he took her soul with him

And never gave it back because he thought the healing water was in her soul to keep

But he never treasured the mermaid from the sea he just wanted to keep her soul for himself

But she found a way to break through the bond that carried her in his circus of tricks and she found true love which was the promise of needing legs

To walk on the surface but that never meant she couldn’t be who she really was even with him for if he didn’t accept her

The sea would be her everlasting wish where…

Almost A Slow Burn

Almost a slow burn … by Michelle Ayon Navajas

michnavs's avatarmichnavs

Almost A Slow Burn

it was meant to be a slow burn love story,
it was meant to be a drizzle of rain in between two unassuming hearts,
it was meant to be a steady summer slumber,
it was meant to be a happy ending;

instead a star -crossed lovers’ story happened,
instead there were solid downpour of unforgiving circumstances,
instead there were nightmares on hot summer days;

two hearts, needless to say wishing for a love to stay,
that summer when the rain wasn’t pouring,
that summer when dreams were like wishing upon a star,
that summer when the world felt like an enchanting place;

two souls, needless to say hoping to be one,
that moment when almost was just almost, a slow burn.
