Reena’s Exploration Challenge #Week 12

Exploration Challenge 12.jpg

This image makes me think of masks.

No one can swear that he/she never put a mask on his life, whatever may be the situation.

We don’t show our emotions to everyone especially with whom we are not familiar. We want to show our good side only to them. Sometimes, even to our good friends or close relatives, siblings and parent we hide behind a mask. We have lots of masks. One for each role and each situation. I think it’s okay and it’s only natural.

That reminds me of my first encounter with a lady at a community festival. What a pretty woman, was my first reaction. Then I noticed she had a friendly radiant face with an infectious smile.

Slowly I came to know about her other qualities. I found her participating in every function, teaching children dance or songs,  oozing out energy. She…

We are all multi-faceted, and this image to me illustrates that idea.

The notion that like an onion we have many dimensions to us comes to mind.

I think we’d all like to think there is more to us than meets the eye.

I have a neighbour who comes to mind. He is a retired High School Principal and is now days suffering with Parkinson’s Disease.

But he doesn’t see this as a handicap rather as an impetus to get out and do as much as he can for himself while he can.

He rides every day, he goes on trips with his wife and explores the countryside and next year he and his wife are planning a cycling trip to Italy.

He is an avid gardener; his vegetable patch is brilliant to behold, and he maintains a passion and enthusiasm for mathematics.

The other afternoon he found him tutoring…

My anchor
Strong and stable
Always there
By my side
Makes me happy, makes me sad
In sickness and in health

My compass
So I won’t get lost
In the dark
When apart
I will always find my way
Together we are

Happiness
When I am with you
Flowers bloom
The sun shines
Life is tough but we make it
Till death do us part

Mysterious

The Real Nanjo Castille had enticed kids for more than a decade. It was the mystery surrounding his existence that built up his charm. He would appear as a gymnast in the circus, a clown or be seen entertaining kids in local schools and events. Walt Disney wanted to buy the rights, seeing the popularity … Continue reading Mysterious

Three Line Tales : The fire inside

three line tales week94: little red riding hood, a girl in a red parka on a beach

photo by Alex Iby via Unsplash

A strip of black, ashy sand, white breakers above – a grey sky, heavy with sea mist that rolls in and out of the shore like a living thing.

Many would be driven insane by my monochrome world, by the endless crash of the waves, the screaming dip and soar of the gulls – but not me.

Inside me burns a fire of anger so fierce it will turn the sand to glass, boil the seas until they vapourise, leaving nothing but a crust of salt behind. The world will know me.

Photo prompt round-up – Eye – #writephoto

Sue Vincent's avatarSue Vincent's Daily Echo

Eye

*
Above and below
Reflected realities
Borders undefined
How can I know where I stand
Or on which side of vision

*

Do I stand in earth
Looking out from hollow hills
Or am I a dream
A projection of the soul
Beyond an amorphous Veil

*

What does it matter
I am where presence requires
Facing destiny
Riding the current of life
Subjective reality

*

The photo for this week’s prompt was taken in Derbyshire at the Derwent Valley Reservoirs, where a village was drowned and where the famous ‘Dambusters’ Squadron trained. The valley holds many hidden treasures still, both natural and man-made. The reflections beneath the bridge here were just perfect on this visit, and there was no way of telling where they began or ended.

As always, I would like to thank  everyone for their contibutions. I love seeing how many different stories and poems can…

FROM RAT TO CAT

Exploration Challenge 11By Neel Anil Panicker

“You are a cat. Not just any ordinary cat. The big one. The biggest of them all.  A true blue Royal  Bengal  Tiger. The best and the rarest breed to inhabit the whole wide world.”

Saumik  began to feel dizzy. His head started to swirl. Blood began  to drain out of his face and limbs.

He felt his legs and limbs go limp.

All this not out of fear or pain. But out of shock.

So far no one, not one person in his entire life so far of over two score years on Mother Earth had ever said so many wonderful words of appreciation for him.

A tiger. They were calling him a tiger, that too the best in the business. From a lowly rat to a majestic tiger__that’s quite a paradigm shift. How quickly the wheels…

Abyss

A good account of how a choice is made, and thereare no regrets about it.

Sangbad's avatarThoughts of Words

Slowly I’m dipping into abyss

Made of memories, lies, promises foolish

Remaining afloat is the wish

But, it is these calls that my soul kiss.

The kiss that is wet, that is poisonous

At the same time a matter of hush

So that when I burn in pyre no words rush

Saying a kiss killed me, a kiss alas.

The garden that I sow shall bloom

For weeds there’re no room;

Gardener take care of my pride

But, don’t take a ride of pride.

Because love was all I had given,

Water & care all you have given.

Slowly I’m dipping into abyss

Scattered, lost, disbanded are all my wish.

DEATH OF A GENERALIST

Specialization has its own advantages. But the lack of a SPOC (Single Point of Control) in most organizations delays actions that require a quick response. “Shall check with the concerned, and revert back to you” is the commonest reply. I have received vague replies at EOD or after, to a query raised in the morning, … Continue reading DEATH OF A GENERALIST
