Elsie is back with her challenge😀😀 Welcome!

“Nothing personal, I assure you,” he said, flipping his knife in one hand.
I’ve always wondered how they do that. I’d cut off my fingers for sure.
“So are you a paid killer or just doing this for recreation.”
“Paid.”
“So this is your job? I mean, all the time?”
He took a step forward, apparently tiring of the chatter.
“I was just wondering what makes a man take up this profession.”
He hesitated. “It is what I do best.”
“How so?” I asked, feigning more interest that I felt.
He frowned, considering. “I’m just skilled with… well… weapons. I like them and I have no problem with killing.”
“So, if you weren’t a hired killer, do you think you’d…

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #Week 41
We are dabbling with Erasure Poetry this week – call it White Out or Black Out as you please.
Erasure is a form of found poetry or found object art created by erasing words from an existing text in prose or verse and framing the result on the page as a poem.[1] The results can be allowed to stand in situ or they can be arranged into lines and/or stanzas.

When we were nothing more than a line on a page
the author daydreaming of what it would feel like to meet
the other part of herself
the pencil half tracing an arc and then dropping off in thought
for she did not believe it possible, for she had stayed inside her box
such a long time it had become second-nature to assume
there was nothing more, and if perchance, it was only illusion
when we hadn’t grown flesh and hands and eyes and mouths
licking and touching and fitful for all of its circumference
and mad for it, with the supple sway of lovers
bending to each other’s lightest trace
when we were two people walking in opposite
unawares of the fall of love, or how it can plunge so deeply
the violence of a hearts commitment
then, you had a cocksure approach
keeping yourself remote, never getting close

There are two long pieces, with the theme Blue. Choose any one, or choose both to pick your words. You are at liberty to not use it in the same order. Add a conjunction or preposition, if you feel it is necessary to lend meaning.
Just type the words chosen, or leave it in situ. Examples of both are in the piece which I have posted. I have…

Treat every book with care,
between its pages rests:
a universe
a sacred crypt
a piece of you and everyone
a place to meet or be alone.
Enter every book with awe,
remember how
you used to bring to bed a flashlight
with your book.
Fear books that makes it hard to sleep,
filled with nightmares and excitements,
but fear even more
the boring books
that turn your brain to tapioca.
Bring books as company,
as friends and foes,
confide, confront your books
but don’t forget to put them down
and talk to the people that you meet.
Be book yourself, and fill your days
with sense, with syllables and sentences
with pages, paragraphs, be bold
and live (or dream),
your own adventures.
And when you cease to breathe
know well
that every book can not be read.

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #Week 40 – All About 40

Welcome to Week 40!
Certain numbers arouse curiosity. I have always wondered about the special significance of the number 40, across different cultures and geographies.
Maybe, it takes that much time for a chance to get entrenched in the system and become effective.
Write anything – poem, prose, rant, memory, anecdote, reflection, wild thoughts – which includes the number 40.
Look forward to my weekly peep into your brilliant minds…
FORTY: You are Naughty
Number 40 might have significance in different cultures and geographies, mythologies…
