I
wonder
if they are
happy to be
gawked at by many
people, being displayed
upside down here in this hall?
Are the many voyeurs fearful?
What if the strings break sending people
art crashing down hard on top of their heads?

Flash Fiction: The Shadow Show

The Shadow Show by the darknetizen

the dark netizen's avatarThe Dark Netizen

“Mommy, what is happening here?”

I looked at my child looking confused.

“This is a shadow show, my darling. It’s just like the movies we watch, but this is done right in front of us, in real.”

“So there are heroes and heroines here also? But I can’t tell which ones are boys and which ones are girls.”

My child was too young to understand this. This show was made so that the artists and the story is highlighted. It aimed to show genders are inconsequential. My child was too young to understand. I smiled.

“That’s what’s special here.”

Reena’s Exploration Challenge # 83: Prompt: Picture and Perspective

Your or Mine

Whose perspective is right

I see the shadows upright

You praise the magic of the light

I see them hanging down from ceiling

For you they give a different feeling

Whose is a better sight

Whose perspective is right

Your or Mine

I watch the play and come back home

You link it to life’s every zone

I praise the gown the lady wore

You thought a skirt would have suited more

Comparing gives a tough fight

Whose perspective is right

Your or Mine

Thinking deep, I finally find

What appears six to you

For me can well be nine

Perspectives are both right

Be it your, be it mine !!!

Unseasonal

An unexpected rainy day that brings in much-needed relief from the sultry weather, also dampens the farmer’s hope for a good year ahead. The enchanting view of rain-soaked buildings from a balcony changes, when one steps into a puddle outside and stains the all-white expensive summer outfit. Clouds that fly above the world know the … Continue reading Unseasonal

It’s a boy

“The ad for a popular motorbike needs to go off air. It is blatantly sexist.” “Get me a report on the gender break-up of motorbike users. The ad agency might have targeted a predominant user segment.” “We are fine with it,” opined the leader of the feminist organization, “it is the portrayal that is vulgar.” … Continue reading It’s a boy

Twilight

Twilight is such a lovely word. Different shades of light cover a lot of grey areas – it could be indecision, procrastination, uncertainty or lack of clarity. There is always a sense of being close, but not quite there. I take time to watch the sky at this time, and wonder how much is concealed … Continue reading Twilight

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #Week 50

freedom 50

Tough challenge this time.

Freedom is when you are not compelled to laugh or applaud the silly joke told by the powerful or successful or…people or your boss.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

A Fortune Teller is sitting with his caged parrot, waiting for the people to come and know their fate.

Whenever someone comes he opens the door, parrot comes out, selects a card, gives it to him and goes inside the cage.

Even if the door is open it never tries to fly away, whats more it closes it itself.

Was it for food, security or it has become habituated to living alone, loving the captivity.

Freedom is dangerous and risky perhaps all pets think. Bondage has its own comfort, security, and convenience once you become accustomed to it.

happy in their shackles
of caste, creed, and community
people never try to break away

अब आज़ाद हूँ मैं

hecblogger's avatarPlaying with words
