The Bluebird of Happiness ….by Len

We all search for the blue bird of happiness as it flits further and further from our vision. We strive to capture this blue bird so that we may imprison it in a guilded cage for our entertainment. We like its sweet song. Except once imprisoned it refuses to sing and we are left lonely and isolated. If what makes us happy is alcohol, drug dependency, gossip and social media, perhaps we are the ones in the guilded cage imprisoned by our dependencies. It’s a cruel world where we cope with economic survival, family upheaval, bad lifestyle choices, political malaise and fragile bodies. These forces change us and tend to bury our true nature. We have to break free. Happiness cannot be captured and put…

Indira’s take on Exploration Challenge #104
Reena’s Exploration Challenge – 104
Here’s another week that promises to be full of creativity and fun.
PROMPT 104- LONG AND SHORT OF IT
You need not get lost in the length. Just choose any three words – by instinct, by closing your eyes and placing a finger, by following a number game (3,27,91 or something like it), by creating an alphabetical logic …. The choice is all yours.
( body, beauty, passengers)
I wake up at 3 am to find my body seems to be gliding through the air.
My surrounding seems to vanish.
There is just me floating or rather gliding in the air and the star-studded sky.
My mind, usually a chatterbox is dumbfounded by the magnificence of the scene.
It’s overwhelming to witness such beauty.
So many times I have seen stars shining in the sky but today it seems so serene, surreal, incredible, divine.
I’m…

What a morning Linda thought as she made the bed. She softly, lovingly smoothed the blankets over the top. In her mind, he was still there, even though he had been gone for over ten years.
I remember many good times on this bed she thought, and horrible ones. I was sitting on the edge of this bed during the 9/11 attacks, waiting for my husband to finish getting ready for work.
The depths of Linda’s mind remember the good, the happiness and the sorrow while resting on this bed, waiting for sleep to come.

OFFICE, OFFICE
By Neel Anil Panicker
“Listen Inder, this is the jet age and life is all about moving forward, and in order to do that everyone takes the fastest mode___be it cars or trains, even planes, ___but sadly, you seem to be unmindful of this reality and is not even riding a bicycle”.
“Listen,” countered Inder facing his colleague, whom incidentally, he had known from college, “If are alluding to the fact that I am not a sycophant, the obsequious kind who’s ever ready to suck up to his superiors, ever ready to butter his bosses, then Vikram, you’re right___I prefer…”
“Then you prefer taking the slow road, right,” butted in Vikram before adding, “Yeah I know Inder, you prefer the lonesome walk, you prefer to stick to your principles, you refuse to…

A thousand centuries …. by Sadje

PROMPT 104- LONG AND SHORT OF IT:
My choice;
A THOUSAND CENTURIES
A thousand centuries have passed
Yet we are nowhere near finding our humanity
We will ostracize our own people
Because their skin is a different color
Shunning them because of their
Language, dress or the beliefs they follow
We are even worse than animals
Who harm other only when they have to survive
The humans take up arms just because they can
And we breed animosity without reason
We harbor grudges which are born out of spite
How many centuries will go by
Before we become humans, kind and gracious
What will convert us into peace loving race
Instead of the civilized barbarians we are?
