दुनिया को

You – oblivious of facts – cold
worlds know secrets untold

You – known as a perpetrator
How do I call the world a killer?

You – won’t cast a benevolent glance
Winning the world is a hollow dance

You- ask about my solitude
Tell me who comes to meet you

Guilt of failure in love overruns
I recall being seen as competent once

Original Hindi piece below…

hecblogger's avatarPlaying with words

Opposites Attract

Opposites attract …. by Susi Bocks

Susi Bocks's avatarI Write Her

Untitled

1.

I
hear your
silent scream
echoing in
the chambers of my achy breaky heart.

2.

Honestly, this open secret is not being very well kept.

3.

french fries and mayo
disgustingly delicious
oddball food combo

4.

serendipitous
our destinies have crossed paths
awfully lucky

5.

Unbiased opinions do not actually exist.

Who’s wise?

Who’s wise? ….
by Aishwarya

Joy of unfiltered laughter,

Sharing, merriment thereafter,

Euphoria of giving,

Smile, the sign of living,

With such thoughts, creation materialised,

Currently left with a question, who’s wise?

Inside my shell, I seek relief,

No time to comfort each other’s grief,

A cherry wave, countered with hapless stare,

Talking to one another, is it anybody’s care?

Such attributes, man’s present disguise,

Currently left with a question, who’s wise?

67 words.

Acknowledgements :- Thank you Reena Saxena for running the challenge at Reena’s Exploration Challenge #122. The challenge is to write a piece based on the picture prompt. For rules please refer here. Thank you all for stopping by and reading.

Thoughts behind the poem :- Nature created us with attributes of laughter, cheer, sharing and other pleasant things, slowly we are forgetting them and hesitate even to talk to one another.

Brain on Fire

Brain on fire … by VJ Knutson

VJ's avatarOne Woman's Quest

My mind is ablaze –
ideas churning
vying for recognition –

greed is ego’s bane
hogs the spotlight
but other thoughts stir

gentler, more insightful –
will remain in shadow
till a quorum empowers
artful expression.

The Last Book

The last book …. by VJ Knutson

VJ's avatarOne Woman's Quest

What will be written
in the aftermath –
so much owing,
so little justification.

Upended anxiety –
regal anticipations
shattered by cancer –
yes, life is a teacher

No matter,
if we survive –
but where to go then
Earth’s riches exploited

Commitments crumbled –
confess we have Father issues
but it’s time to emerge,
step forward, take the lead

What follows contentment
battled, passive crosses borne,
paths with no clear direction,
doubt as ante?

Hubs are shattered –
we are spokes with no centre –
pray the last book written
is reconstructive.

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #122 — Professor Pettigrew’s Magic

Professor Pettigrew’s Magic … by Jade Li/Lisa

Johnny’s English 101 teacher was the old-fashioned kind, and Johnny wasn’t sure he liked the old-fashioned kind. English 101 was Johnny’s 8 a.m. Monday-Thursday class in his freshman year at the community college. The first class Professor Pettigrew laid out the groundwork for the semester as he went through the syllabus. There were cubbys at the front of the room where all cell phones and laptops were to be deposited as one entered the classroom. Participation and Attendance counted for 50% of one’s grade.

The most unusual expectation was that one would read an actual paper book of at least 300 pages every week. Monday-Wednesday students rotated talking about the books they had read the week before. Thursdays were reserved for stream-of-consciousness writing about anything that had been covered for the week. Each alternating week, small pods of 4 students would choose…
