The Upside Of War

the upside of war …. by Susi Bocks

Susi Bocks's avatarI Write Her

Inspired by Reena’s Exploration Challenge #128

every negative situation
has the power
to become a positive force
for cultural shift

lives are lost
but lives will be saved
in the future
from what we learn

life’s path
takes a different turn
our day to day changes
becoming a new reality

gleening a possibility
of hope in this evil’s demise
in the following days
it begins during these troubled times

Presentiment

Presentiment …. by Punam

paeansunplugged's avatarpaeansunpluggedblog

She sat in rapt attention

at the open air midnight soiree

enthralled by the elegance

of the lyrical verse flowing

from the mystic poet’s lips

bathing her parched soul

with a longing so intense!

when his ballad spoke of
death and parting

it creased her delicate brow

and for a heart-stopping moment

she was awash

with a feeling of deja vu

as if listening to her own

obituary, many moons ago

when the amethyst sky was suffused

with a million celestial bodies

yet the eerie cawing of corvids could be heard

as her soul had ascended the heavens!

shuddering involuntarily

she came back to the present

was it a dream, a nightmare
or a premonition

of the tragedies to befall!

she yearned for days of tranquility

when life was not complicated.https://reinventionsreena.wordpress.com/2020/03/19/reenas-exploration-challenge-127/https://jademwong.wordpress.com/2020/03/23/poetry-reunion/https://lifeafter50forwomen.com/2020/03/23/what-do-you-see-22-march-23-2020/https://amanpan.com/2020/03/23/eugis-weekly-prompt-elegance-march-23-2020/https://reflectionsofanuntidymind.blog/2020/03/24/corvid-2020-weekly-challenge-1/

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #127 – Deja Vu

Deja Vu …by Michael

Michael's avatarMorpethroad

PROMPT #127

Déjà vu

The house at No. 18 always gave me a weird feeling whenever I walked past.

It was a dark and foreboding place. A high fence sheltered it from the outside world, and the house itself appeared to be sunk into the hill.

If I happened to pause as I went by I could feel a familiarity.

I had never been inside the front gate as far as I knew. My mother had told me to keep away, to not venture inside the gate as bad things had happened there.

When pressed, she would say it was best not spoken about.

The inhabitants of No.18 were a collection of aged sisters. They dressed in black, they shuffled in old age, one was a gardener and was often seen weeding or pruning, another could be seen each Wednesday, on pension day, pulling her shopping cart to the supermarket…

What is it?

What is it? by Aishwarya

kittysverses's avatarKitty's Verses

Not once, twice,

But! But! infinite times,

Discreetly,

It nudges

Although intuition is,

Shoved in a closet.

Deja-vu,

Brushing off again,

Only left,

With regret,

Warped and wrinkled, hood lifted,

Procrastination.

I have been here before

I’ve lived these moments in the past

It’s like time is playing on a loop

It shows me the scenes I’ve seen before

Is it a premonition or a glitch

A warning sign to be cautious

Or an omen that something is about to happen

I have been here before and I know

I need to carry on regardless of how I feel

Though my mind puzzles and analyzes

This is one mystery I am unable to solve

Jamais Vu … by Jade Li/Lisa

Chuck Palahniuk

“There’s an opposite to déjà vu. They call it jamais vu. It’s when you meet the same people or visit places, again and again, but each time is the first. Everybody is always a stranger. Nothing is ever familiar.”

Each night’s dreamed beginning is
blessed deja vu.

An unequal fight

An unequal fight ….. echo of a prevalent sentiment penned by Punam

paeansunplugged's avatarpaeansunpluggedblog

The scope of my glorious independence
now confined within four walls
alone and isolated
masked and frightened
I stare into oblivion
reflecting on the hands I shook,
the meetings attended
and the crowded commute
Alone and distant from all now
if only I had kept my distance then !
I now fear for the loved ones
regretting the hugs I shared with them
the question that bothers me most is
“How do we stay focused
when the world around us
is falling apart?”
I can feel the mask of sangfroid slip perilously
into the raging waters of uncertainty
but I will not get mired
in the quagmire self-pity
I will survive and rise
wiser and more determined
Alone I may be in this fight
against an invisible, faceless, wee invader
arising out of nowhere
but maybe, just maybe
having faced the worst
the best will triumph eventually.

Flash Fiction: 1950s Add-on

Update: My Precious is back with a new “logic board” at no cost. Happy, happy, joy, joy. Everything important backed up in Dropbox (only lost a handful of pics, so no tears), however, setting up the MacBook from scratch is a real pain in the arse (I’ve started using Time Machine – just in case – consider it a lesson).

The crowds of the theme park pumped with volume. The historical add-on more civilised… No one cared about the prehistoric times. Zana rode the lift. Pressing buttons, rather old school. The experience quirky.

The doors open and she took a quiet seat. She sighed and snuggled into the synthetic interior. Curious, she pulled a lever. The seat jolted back. Peculiar. She pressed a button on the dashboard. A…
