My comfort place

My comfort place …… by Happy Soul

Reena’s Exploration challenge, this week is a situation:

You go down in a lift that doesn’t stop for hours. When it finally opens, what do you see?

This is my ideal go-to place when I need a break. The room is quiet and spacious with fresh air circulating and is naturally lit. The wide Picture windows shows the beauty of my lush green backyard! There’s a well cushioned cot by the side, cozy enough for a comfortable nap.

Elegant n high oak bookshelves add to the aesthetics of my room and the shelves have all my TBR books neatly arranged. Some splash of green here and there too. A few antheriums, palm plants and not to miss a succulent on my desk. My journal and laptop is neatly placed on this desk. My pen (it’s a vintage) is tucked on the cover of my journal. I can hear songs…

The Bag Lady’s take on Exploration Challenge #160

***

All the while facing front as most do in an elevator, Joe was starting to shift his weight from one foot to the other. It was crowded and he was starting to feel claustrophobic. People on every side seemed too close. He could hear them breathing and some were whispering to each other. He heard a chuckle from someone ahead of him, wondered if they were laughing at him. He had always been larger than any of his classmates and as an adult, his weight continued to increase. He was never comfortable in small spaces because of his bulk.

As Joe tried to calm himself, the thought preyed on his mind he was taking up too much space in this box. He was sure they were all thinking, this guy’s too big, he should have waited for a less crowded lift. In reality, Joe had recently lost about two…

Welcome back!

PROMPT #160

I give you a situation this week.

You go down in a lift that doesn’t stop for hours. When it finally opens, what do you see?

The piece you generate can be fiction, poetry, essay, art, photographs or anything else that your creativity brings forth.

Write a post on your blog, and copy-paste the link in Comments. In case you are using a pingback, do check back to see if it has worked.

Down and down it went

The numbers decreased

And then the light went out

Suddenly it stopped and landed with a loud thud

I felt as if every bone in my body was jarred

The door opened with a whoosh

.

.

.

.

I expected pitch darkness but was instead

Greeted with blinding light and loud music

Where was I, I wondered aloud…

पढ़वा देना उनको

English translation here – Original Hindi poem below
MY WILL

let her read inscriptions on my heart
my epitaph will speak, not accuse

one more admirer goes on the block
let her gloat on headlines in news

she will come, but a little too late
waiting eyes still open, will give all clues

I hope my emotions find destinations
unopened letters want reader’s reviews

If a few breaths are still hanging
let her read love letters – bemused

Angel in our midst ….. By Usha

The stork came visiting bringing good news,
Out tumbled our very own bewitching muse,
On 1st of November 2016 in a tangle,
Was delivered a cute little angel.

Swaddled in a blanket safe and secure,
I ain't your damsel demure,
Alert beady eyes sizing all,
Will make you dance to my beck and call.

Sleep a blink snores gone with the wind,
Rip Van Winkle share tips be kind,
When the world went round how did you sleep in solace?
Let time fly away without a trace.

Feeding burping changing done,
The jive salsa tango in a run,
Did I spy a cheeky wink,
The cradle did shake need a shrink.

We are going on a lion hunt,
To catch a cat that scares with a roaring grunt,
I am not scared are you?
I hear his voice is but a mew.

My turn…

Frames

Frames …. by VJ Knutson

VJ's avatarOne Woman's Quest

Picture-perfect life
who doesn’t aspire?

I’ve reframed the image
time and time again

Searched for definition
in 5′ x 7′ then 8′ x 10′

But a creative soul
cannot be confined

frames now accents
for the life that flows.

Construction Zone Moms

Construction Zone Moms …… by Pallavi

Pallavi's avatarCurating Thoughts

Aerial Photography of Stadium
Pexel.com

We are ‘work in progress’ moms
Construction zones to be precise
With orange cones and flashers
Occasionally motioning ‘slow down’ and ‘danger ahead’ signs
On days when site’s stars align
we match up to images of Instagram moms
Hashtag clean kids and manicured nails
Practicing yoga with serenity and calm

But beholden to truth, let’s be real, delays and detours are usually the deal
unsent text messages and unfinished thoughts, is just how we roll
for we are navigating our high speed drivers, doing 60 in 15mph zone
and mind you, the work never stops, sunrise or frost
Hard helmets and orange vests never come off
because, often when we lose our guardrails
a landslide appears out of nowhere
rendering us to search for heavy equipment, we didn’t even know existed

Now now….don’t be too mistaken
Not all you see are debris and dust forsaken
The loose gravel is…

PROMPT #159

Imagine a slice of your life, or the whole personality framed on the wall. What would you like to see there?

A poem, a quote, a story, a picture or a work of art?

I invite you to write one or more pieces or post a collage you would like to see in the frame.

In the process, I might get to know you better

~*~*~*~

There I am

Hanging around

Ready to be helpful

Do you want a helping hand or advice on some medical issues?

Or a thorny problem needing to be sorted out?

I am forever ready to be that shoulder to lean on

Or the friend that you can count on

That is how I will like you to think of me

A person who was willing to be there for you

I am always striving…
