Scones

I’m lying on my deathbed, thinking about the good times, like the weans when they were young, and the grandweans too, and the bad times, like when we had to pawn my wooden leg to buy food.
I know I’ve not got long to go, but I’ve still got my sense of smell, so my heart leaps because my Dora, she’s always been so good to me, aye, she’s baking treacle scones, my absolute favourite.
I can’t make myself heard – my voice is only a croak now – so I drag myself out of bed, hop painfully to the top of the stairs, and slide down on my…

An another day

Another day….by Aishwarya

P.C :- Philippe D

Colours of twilight seeps through intermittently,

Radiating one last time before departure,

Handing over the baton never was easy,

Through faint spectra, moon’s beams assures continuity,

Oh! Wouldn’t the rhythm be disrupted on a new moon’s day?

Difficult to accommodate successor,

Fringes of confusion underlining the inevitable,

What would be a tomorrow, an another day.

Are you giving away your life?

Empowered Women's avatarEmpowered Women

Are you giving away your life for something you did not ask for, or don’t want?

Identify the mental traps that your life is embedded in.

Just take the first step
chains you see are dark smoke
embers died ages ago
while you slept
feet heavy with inertia
eyes blinded by illusion
-you are cared forrevolving, rotating
around your own axis
What kept you tied down
while the Earth moved?Touch the boundaries
where gravity ends
Non-linear
is the path of life
Go, find your own sun...

5 Styling Tips for Work

A Beautiful Thought

Who invented the concept of corporate dress codes ? There is a rebel inside each of us, which was created in school. Being confined in uniforms obstructed our discovery of glamour. Breaking the rules earned us notoriety with the authorities, but also peer admiration.

I came across an article by Robert Anton Wilson, which says that the first 25 years of our lives are spent in being compelled to conform to societal norms. He says,

It takes the first third of our lives to destroy the curiosity and experimentalism; and in most cases, we become placid parts of a docile herd.

Just brilliant !

The Concept of Image

The movement shifted from the campus to corporates and now home offices. Why can’t you work in pyjamas from your bedroom?

A dress code cripples individuality.

Think again.

What is the basic unit of thinking ? Work backwards, and…

Alone Pist – Apocolypse …
By whatifweallcared

Celeste Trudeau thought about the  handsome man she’d met during the first pandemic. He was sweet at first and quite knowledgeable about survival, but his attitude towards her past was a dealbreaker. One evening, as they sat quietly watching over their hiding place and the group they’d joined, she shared with him about the nurses at the hospital she’d lived in as a child. That was a mistake. He’d laughed in her face and began to refer to her as ‘crazy-girl’.. when he stepped away to relieve himself she gathered all her meager possessions and slipped away alone. Better alone than in bad company.

Walking along quietly through the woods Celeste began to take stock of her situation. She was alone but not in unfamiliar territory. Because of her love of nature and hiking/exploring she knew the area well. That had made her a huge assett to the group. It…

Whose voice is it?

What is the opposite of megalomania?

Google gives me the following words.

Humility, servility, meekness, lowliness and 20 other similar words.

I look for the words ‘assertiveness’ and ‘confidence’ but fail to find those.

Is a balanced personality the mezzanine floor, somewhere between being arrogant and boastful, and being servile?

Mama Bear’s bed is too soft, and Papa Bear’s bed too hard, whereas Baby Bear needs something that is ‘just right?’

Yes, it is this ‘just right’ feeling that some of us fail to receive in childhood. Being pampered too much may boost self-worth for a short time, but lack of that support in the outside world causes teenagers to break down.

We’ve not been told “We are Enough”, “We are just right”.

Thanks Mindlovemisery’s Menageris – Saturday Mix for another opportunity to plug The Sound of Brilliance.

Work real hard towards an end,
I won’t pretend.
I can taste it.
I’ll never quit.

Projects are always an effort,
make my head hurt.
Ah, the reward,
talents explored.

Coming together for a cause,
only because
they are brilliant.
I’m ebullient!
