Hope you had a good time exploring your wardrobe. Let us see how can we put together various separates to create glam outfits for our ‘plus’ selves. 1. Creating a contrast If we are combining a dark and light color, wear the dark color closer to the skin. It draws the eye in, and reduces […]Style … Continue reading Style Tuesday – Dressing on the Plus Side — SacredCircleforWomen
Devil borrows
Twilight’s voice
tortures sensibility
Tangled bedclothes
grumble, inflexible
bedmates – unsupportive
Where is reason?
my mind wails
heart drumming discord
I access light,
perch on edge of bed
will myself to breathe
(My dear husband is in hospital again, his fifth surgery to reconstruct his knee. It’s been a long ordeal and my heart bleeds for him. Fear is an awful bedmate. I submit this poem in response to the promptings of Eugi’s Weekly prompt: twilight and Reena’s Xploration challenge: devil. Image my own.)
Pain does this to a body-pushes you to the brink surrounds you in deceptive arms making you believe that it always was and always will be here washing you up on a rusty shore anchored by the weight of its magnitude and there you sit, buried in quicksand thoughts and shifting stone Waiting for the next blinding wave praying it will not be as […]Pain … Continue reading Pain — Charmed Chaos
It is First Line Friday! Welcome and let’s get writing.
Below, I give you the first line, and you all get to write the rest. This prompt alternates with Jim’s Music Prompts, so make sure to check back next Friday for some musical inspiration.
I’ll provide the first line, you get to write whatever comes afterward. Length, genre, and structure are completely up to you. Feel free to modify the line as you see fit, adding punctuation, quotes, or other bits if so desired. No need to tie it to the picture, unless you want to.
Or for more of a challenge, change nothing. You have a week to write it, enjoy!
Include the first line of course! Tag it Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie, First Line Fridays, and short fiction. Create a link (ping-back) to this post!
Your line for this week is:
I am the monster of every story.
Devil …. By Sadje
Reena is our host for Reena’s Xploration Challenge

The word prompt for today is

Don’t look outwards to find the devil
It resides within your own soul
Some part of our personality is good, angelic
And some of it is leaning to the bad side, devilish
When we stray or do something bad
We blame it to the whispering of the devil
But the promptings come from our baser nature, the devil within
We gladly take credit for all the good deeds we do
But we need to hold ourselves responsible for the mistakes too
Tame the devil hidden in plain sight
And you’ve won the war of the good vs evil

Failed ploy …….by Punam
He hides in the shadows as twilight descends
Standing behind the icy curtain of frost in the vale
Plotting a sinister plan so vile, as the day slowly ends
Around midnight the wind suddenly turns into a gale.
The dead and the departed respond to his call
Obsidian figures rise as if in a trance
They move as directed; at his beck and call
In a messianic frenzy they begin to dance.
He stands now in front of the dank, ornate crypt
Hoping to regain life from his inamorata lying supine
With fingers, like daggers, his beloved’s heart is ripped
Tears of blood fall from the heaven and dogs begin to whine!
Slithering snakes shatter the syntax of the night
Howling hyenas hum scenting a hunt
Lighting strikes thrice cleaving the night
Bringing to a naught his devilish stunt!

Without Knees ….. by Larry Trasciatti
PROMPT #188
The Devil is always found in
The shadows and on the shoreline
In atonal music and eisegesis
A dashing dapper gentleman and scholar
An intoxicatingly lovely woman
As easily as a raging lion
Snake or dragon always without knees
Devil in her Heart …… by Jim Adams
If the Beatles didn’t cover the Donays (a young girl-group out of Hamtramck, Michigan) one-hit-wonder ‘Devil In His Heart’ that was originally released in 1962, this song most likely would have faded into complete obscurity. The Donays released this song on the local Detroit label Correct-Tone Records, but many of the small American record companies were affiliated with major labels that had distribution in the UK. Correct-Tone Records had an affiliation with a larger label from New York, Brent Records, who picked up the record for national distribution. Its flip-side, ‘Bad Boy’ (not the Larry Williams’ song with the same name), did get airplay in the Michigan area, although the single missed the US charts. This single was picked up by the UK label Oriole Records and was released there.
The Donays were made up of school friends Janice Guinn, her sister Armie Guinn, Yvonne Singleton (Yvonne Vernee), Michelle Ray and…
