Scrambled, boiled or fried ..by Diana

I don’t want to go Halloweening,
The egg at the back boiled dry.
I’ll only end up scrambled,
my brains will all be fried.
I don’t want to go Halloweening,
I don’t want to miss my show,
I have just brought a new Stetson.
As flat as an omelette it will go.
I don’t want to go Halloweening,
I’ll go as white as a ghost,
If I see a witch’s cat,
my cracked shell will be toast.
I don’t want to go Halloweening,
let’s all stay indoors,
Put a great show on the TV,
have humans for dinner instead.
Lucky ….by Susi Bocks
life is hard
being used, abused and tossed about
but generally something good can come of it
but to be chosen
over and over while watching those remaining
experience the afterglow of seeing another day
… it cracks me up

We celebrate the festival of Dassera tomorrow, which celebrates the victory of good over evil – victory of Ram over a 10-headed monster, Ravan.
The story is complex, as boundaries between good and evil keep blurring all the time. The so-called monster is a learned scholar and a king with several blessings to his credit, and cannot be painted all black.
This post is not about religion, but a view of how women were treated in ancient society.
Stories have been re-written with a feminist perspective, and one of those books is “Liberation of Sita” by Volga. I had posted a review of the book in 2017.
The Liberation of Sita – a book by Volga
I just revisit a few female characters the book mentions.
Shupnakha
She is the monster Ravan’s sister, who takes the initiative to propose to a man. In return, she gets her nose and ears…

Somewhere …a Decima by Sangeetha

somewhere near the afternoon
the sun lit up a dream I'd drawn
with true coloursof mylife's storm
that turns, on a whim, glee to gloom
or takes me right up to the moon
and back for breakfast served
- a shot of coffee, extra verve
only for me, that little more
of my sweet life that I adore,
...all that I totally deserve!

Hide and Seek ….by Francis the Frenchie
I walked into the room wearing a quizzical look, immediately feeling like a stranger in a very strange land. The only semblance of life was someone whose head looked like one of my eyes, and my emotions started getting the best of me without Mom around.
“Here I am,” Mom called from behind me as she removed the eyeball mask she’d been hiding under.

Gustatory Indulgence …… by Radhika

The pack of freshly baked donuts on the table,
entice me with their alluring flavors,
delighting my senses with heavenly aroma.
Classic, cinnamon and coffee work their magic on me,
as my will power melts under their saccharine glaze.
I succumb to the temptation of a sinful indulgence.
I gently pick up one, inhaling its flavorsome redolence.
The sugary sprinkles peck my lips, with a flirtatious tease.
A bite into the soft glazed buns, leaves me in raptures.
I revel in the tantalizing effect it has on my taste buds.
Satiated, my mouth drools a dulcet harmony.
Well, I guess I am forgiven
for committing adultery with my diet plan.
It was after all, just a onetime scrumptious affair!

Finding courage ….by Woke
I have felt enough pain,
To laugh in anguish.
To muster enough strength
To allow the rush blow across my insides
Like a wind will gush against the sails of a ship
As a flame on a wick flicker
Dancing back and forth,
So will the shadows of their courage,
With hands on hips in the calm.
Just before the storm,
The last of memories we evoke
Before we charge forward into unknown frontiers,
Is the cost of everything.
And in most cases, too high.
The Haunted Bungalow ….by Jane Aguiar

There was a small, beautiful bungalow on the seashore, where Jimmy lived with his wife and two cute children.
This bungalow was very old and was built during the Portuguese period, So the bungalow had Portuguese style stone carving. There was a garden in the middle of the bungalow and the head of their house had been buried there for a maximum of 100 years back.
A black stone table tomb was erected in his honor and a few words were engraved on it; that tomb was highly revered at that time. It was considered a historic tomb.

The family never visited their neighbours nor they invited them to their house. So far this family lived on the wealth of that chief. The family was bizarre and haunted. That is why people named the bungalow haunted.
Every weekend they used to perform black magic near the tomb. They were…

Unforgettable ….by Indira
Prompt#202
Let’s play around with words a little today. Yeah, we do it every day, but let this wordplay be a word game.
Unforgettable
One can extract forget, table, or able from this word.
I give you three more
You can even change the order of alphabets (like ‘peck’ from shipwreck, or ‘route’ from customer).
Choose any one of the four options given above.
Unforgettable– to, grateful, talent, able, unable, forget, turn, table
If a person
uses you as a ladder
to achieve his goal
then instead of being grateful
Braggs of his talent
not giving you any credit
are you able or unable
to
forgive and forget
or
would rather
turn the table
