Brainstorming ….by Diana Coombes

writerravenclaw's avatarWriter Ravenclaw

‘Brainstorming, is that what they call it?’

‘More of a lightbulb moment,’ Stephen said.

‘We need to save the business, but we can’t do it alone. Sooner or later we need to trust each other. I know we got off on the wrong pair of shoes.’

It was a strange turn of phrase, but Stephen liked his attitude. There was something about this man, which was a good type of different. Since he walked into his office, asking for a job, they had aligned an unusual friendship.

He still didn’t know who his family was, or why he asked for the job, but he was the one man he could trust. Sometimes sharing a problem gave the answers.

‘We could sell more lightbulbs,’ Alan said.

Stephen laughed, if only it were that easy.

‘Different types of lightbulbs, I’m thinking more like specialised lightbulbs. The ones that are solar powered,’ he…

Connecting the Dots

Jim Adams connects the dots for us …

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

In the picture on the left, the guy with the question mark in his brain is perplexed and he has no clue about how to solve his problem, but it is a good thing for him that he ran into the guy with the lightbulb in his brain.  Lightbulb head is an idea man, and he has an unusual capacity for visualizing and formulating solutions, and he uses this unique talent to get his creative juices flowing.  Ideas just seem to pop into his head all the time and no hurdle is too big for him.  It is not easy being lightbulb head as ideas come suddenly, unannounced and they are often uninvited, and his subconscious is off and running.  His brain is like a giant memory bank that constantly stores, sorts and retrieves data based on his beliefs, previous experiences, memories, skills, and everything that he has seen, done…

As We near Graduation — a Conversation we may hear!

As we near Graduation …. by Myrna

Myrna Migala's avatarI Believe, BECAUSE -

Reena’a Xploration Challenge, my story about the image below.

Let’s Shake on that!

"Hey buddy, can you believe it's about that time we will graduate from this place, and have you given it any thought about what comes next?"

"I have many questions but no real answers; what about you?" "I have a myriad of ideas but just can't quite make up my mind about any of them"! "I say, ideas are like opinions; everyone has one, but an original scheme and how to execute it might be successful. "You're right; perhaps there are no more new ideas, so we need to find a better way to accomplish them!" "It is said that two heads are better than one, right! Why not sit down, and maybe we can together come up with a brilliant opportunity." "What the world needs is action, not another idea." "Today, all we see are…

The Boxes… #layers #alittlehorror

The Boxes …..by moonduswriter

moondustwriter's avatar penned in moon dust

Here’s the prompt from the talented Reena Saxena @ xploration challenge

“I have untapped abilities waiting to be discovered.”

If you find it complex, you can use Layers as a theme for your piece.

*

It was a journey that I look back upon and wish I had never begun. There are many layers to this journey. Too many…

It began with a wonderful life with an intelligent, witty, charming partner. I couldn’t have asked for more enjoyment. We shared many of the same interests: poetry, writing, going on adventures and playing games.

I wish now (for his sake) that I had never ever had a curiosity for boxes but I always had. There is something about lifting the top of a box if only to peek inside the corner. Boxes seemed potentially to hold treasure.

My interest in boxes is now a curse but I’m slightly ahead of this…

Motherhood #poetry #haiku

Motherhood ….by Jane Aguiar

Jane Aguiar's avatarLiterature World

The lessons of motherhood
were never learned
before becoming a mother.
After becoming a mother,
I suddenly realised
the pattern of motherhood.

I understood
when she was crying
with hunger
and when she was crying
with stomach ache.

As a child she realized
that the person
who feeds her is hers
and every time she cries
the same person comes
and feeds her
giving love and affection.

Now, as she grows older,
she learns to control her emotions.
She hides her tensions.
Now, it’s my turn.
I have to change the relation.
I have to be her friend,
so that her life would be open to me
as a book and so I think,
“I have untapped abilities, waiting to be discovered.”

Musky scented white
spring’s lily of the valley
blessed motherhood

This Shady Thing Called Past – Part 2

Frank Solanki's avatarFrank Solanki

Last time I think I told you
How I had locked up my past
I guess I didn’t think it through
For the solution didn’t last

It did a lot of antics
To come out of its cell
I resisted all its tricks
But it didn’t turn out very well

It stressed me more and more
To have it kicking my head
So I had to open the door
Before it drove me mad

Then I thought it was easy
To just let it out of my head
Why keep it in rent-free?
I could do better instead

So this time it was I
The one with the final kick
Waved a last goodbye
No more dirty trick

Now it is safe I’m sure
No more agony and dread
A perfect resolution
Tranquility in my head

We are our strength

We are our strength ….. by Sadje

Sadje/ Sadie's avatarKeep it alive

My heart was broken beyond repair

The one responsible had no remorse

My child clinging to my dragging dupatta

Her eyes asking a thousand unanswered questions

In her eyes I find the pain that tears me apart

But in her tear filled eyes I find my courage too

I will rise to this challenge

I will rebuild my self that has been demolished

It took me years, effort that often broke me

But whenever I looked into her eyes, I found my courage

Now I stand tall and proud

I have crossed the barriers erected in my way

I now stand with pride

With my daughter by my side

I Could Never Be Her

I could never be her …… by Michelle Navajas

michnavs's avatarmichnavs

I Could Never Be Her

do you ever wish for one second you had not loved me?
‘cos i feel you do everytime i see regret in your words whenever you are disappointed
everytime i hear exhaustion in between your sighs when you are disheartened
and when the tides are against your will i hear loud screams in your silence.

do you ever see me as a shadow of the one you used to love?
‘cos i feel you do
whenever you look at me i know you want something else
something else that i am not nor i wish to be
i feel it in between your warm embrace
and your passionate kiss
i see it in between your broken smiles and empty gazes
i feel your longing, i feel it there’s no denying.

you’d probably be cursing me when you read this
oh! dear forgive me

Who Hurt More?

Who hurt more …. by Francis the Frenchie

Francis the Frenchie's avatarFrancis the Frenchie

The banshee-like scream reached every doorstep of Pedersen Avenue in a similar fashion as the most ghastly ghoul on Halloween night.

Oliver, a nine-month-old Frenchie, was off in the distance before his owner, Mike, was able to make much of a reaction. Mike called an assortment of commands in hopes of changing the dog’s course, to no avail.

Tires screamed of a horrific scene Mike feared reaching.

Luckily, it wasn’t a tale of tragedy because all of Oliver’s broken bones and cuts would be, according to the vet, on the mend in no time.

The scars on Oliver’s shoulder and ribs were a reminder to Mike that he should have been sitting in this obedience class the week after he brought Oliver home.
