His shoulders were hunched from the weight of recent life events and a fog of self-pity had made him almost oblivious to his surroundings but when he heard the woman softly sobbing as she sat outside of the grocery, he was startled awake and asked if he could help her to which the woman said “No.” and offered a short recitation of her own troubles which were far worse than his, so he told her he’d say a prayer for her as he lifted his head and stepped straighter.

And so I drown ….by Nancy Richy

The prompt for today isWriting in One Sentence, challenge created by RXC:PROMPT #247, hosted by Reena

Just when I think there are no more tears left in me,
a thousand more worm their way out of the corners of my eyes
and trickle down my cheeks, falling on my breasts
as my fingers quiver over the keyboard,
its magnetic pull as strong as the waves of a tsunami
dragging me to you,
to reach out to you and lose myself in your eyes,
to dream of your hands on the small of my back
drawing me to you,
bringing out every passion every woman
throughout all of timehas ever known
yet realizing if I do so I will lose myself forever
and so I drown in tears of sorrow and love and painful resolution;
O God, I despise my anguished body
which has turned against me so…

➰➰➰

Midnight, unable to sleep, my mind is flooded with ideas for writing the perfect blog post, ideas that seem unique and perfect at that time of the night as I open my eyes and hastily write a note on my phone lest that I don’t remember my ideal idea in the morning but…… when I get up in the morning after a few hours of sleep, and eagerly look up my note what do I find there? I can’t remember what was it all about!!!!!

Purple haze #etheree #tanka #haiku

Purple Haze … By Jude Itakali

judeitakali's avatarTales Told Different

your deepest shade

wistful September
darkness and light harmonize
Equinox is here

At year’s end, dusks and dawns flaunt lilac bliss
Hearts flutter in periwinkle dreams
The Purple haze descends on all
Our fortunes come full circle
Portends of the Seer-
Must we heed, or fear;
Cards that read dreams
Runestone dooms
Lost truths
Fate

do you hear destiny’s call?

Purple horizons
when birds flock rift valley lakes
Far-winter’s blessings

Forget not the many hues of each colour
Wondrous scintillating deceptions
Where mystery inflames beauty
And fantasy spoons reality
When the Purple haze has you
Smitten by its amethyst sheen
Blinded to its heliotrope tinge
A wistful time indeed
A time of comeupens
When the end is in sight
and watchful things stalk your every step.

beginning or end?

the circle of life
where mine is not truly mine
yet comes back around
one’s curse, another’s blessing
equal darkness, equal…
