WTF

WTF ….by Jim Adams
First in this week

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

An abbreviation that everyone knows, and it is used to express amazement, confusion, or disbelief about something that happened.  This overly used internet acronym does not mean “Welcome to Finland” and it is often said when you are pissed off because you don’t understand why something has happened.  If you were out on a boat fishing and an alien spaceship appeared in the sky and it sucked up all of the fish in the lake, that would be weird, and you might say WTF for Where’s The Fish?  I heard that Facebook is changing their name, because some people think WTF stands for “Welcome To Facebook” and this might cause some chaos, well it will definitely be strange.

Seventeen Again

Seventeen again …. by Michelle Navajas

michnavs's avatarmichnavs

Seventeen Again

and i am seventeen again

feels like yesterday ‘though ages ago

that you gently held me by my hand

as we walked past the busy street

of the University belt’s crowded intersection

i am seventeen again with you

holding my hand for real.

and i am seventeen again

feels like yesterday ‘though decades ago

that you kissed me sweetly, framed by the door

it wasn’t Christmas no mistletoe, but we kissed

i am seventeen again with you

kissing me tenderly for real.

and i am seventeen again

feels like yesterday ‘though years ago

that we passionately shared our love

amidst the blazing Manila skyline

i am seventeen again with you

manifesting your love for real.

feels just like the first time.

Finding Frogs in the Grass by Maria L. Berg 2022

Diving into the question, What is Truth? for this week’s contradictory abstract nouns, I came across this interesting video on Truth vs. Reality with Donald Hoffman from Big Think.

Tourmaline .’s Halloween Challenge

Today’s prompt is Frog. I really like the filter I cut for last year, so I thought I would try some of my transparency filters to add some color and texture.

Today’s prompt is Love, Great and Small expressed through a sonnet or elegy.

dVerse Poets Pub

Today’s poetics prompt is fermentation. I really like this prompt. I’m thinking about creating poetry as fermentation: a process of undergoing an effervescent change, and a state of agitation or excitement.

“This book is going to be explosive, because it reveals so many secrets. Skeletons will keep tumbling out of cupboards for a few years.” “Manage the situation. Find a weakness with which you can blackmail the author. The manuscript needs to change immediately.” “I don’t think she will get intimidated.” “Fear of death is the … Continue reading End View

Sunday Poser # 74

Do participate in this thought-provoking challenge 🙂 Will join you soon…

Sadje/ Sadie's avatarKeep it alive

Welcome back to another Sunday Poser

This week my question is;

Do you like using emojis in your post, or texts?

At first, I felt that using emojis in my writing was a bit informal and irregular. But as I grew more comfortable here in WordPress, I started using more emojis in my posts, specially the emoticons, the bigger and cuter version of emojis.

I feel that the use of emojis makes our writing more personal, a bit informal and more colorful. I’d never use them in formal emails or letters, but personal texts and messages have lots of emojis.

What about you? Do you like using emojis in your posts, texts and messages?

Please share your thoughts in the comments section or you can write your own post and link it to this one so that I can find it.

As usual, thanks of visiting and reading.

Does Time Exist

Does Time Exist?

newepicauthor's avatarMindlovemisery's Menagerie

Is it possible that the concept of time only exists inside of your head?  General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics are thought to be in conflict with one another and most scientists feel that we need a new, more general theory and they are leaning toward loop quantum gravity, which appears to eliminate time entirely.  General Relativity works great for trying to explain how gravity works on a planetary scale where gravity is a strong force and Quantum Mechanics gives us a good picture of how things work on small scales when gravity is weak.  String Theory is an attempt in theoretical physics to explain the quantum nature of gravity, because it deals with how gravity works at the miniature scale of particles.  String Theory predicts that all elementary particles are, when viewed close-up, vibrating loops and strings.  According to Einstein, matter distorts the very fabric of space and time around…

dingy halls

Dingy Halls …. bu Audrine Maxden

Audrine Max's avatarAwakening Imagination

he walked the dingy halls
more than a thousand times
carrying resentment and strife
muddy shoes trailed his path
aware of all the injustices
that followed him around
one day, it suddenly clicked
a tiny spark outwitted his tricks
reformed his world
to an instant delight
he walks again the dingy halls
a tiny infant in his arms
oh my look at his strides
passing through the corridor
with renewed fervor
and sense of pride
the halls now in his eyes, transformed
to a bright luminous route
at the end of the path
he saw his wife, greeting them
with a glowing smile
he said to her,
i’ve been through this halls
too many times, only now
it appears foreign to my eyes
something i-
simply fail to cognize
you changed, dear
was his wife’s short reply.

Aqua: Beautiful hyperrealistic paintings of bathing women by Reisha Perlmutter

She’d nearly drowned, or so her mother had told her, and now she was parked outside of her “home”.
Cloris had no memory of the event that had hospitalized her for a month. She was assured that not remembering traumatic experiences was completely normal. It was the way the mind protects itself. This memory void would definitely take getting used to.
Mama led her through the front door, and she stumbled almost falling flat on her face.

“Oh! You forgot to step down. Are you okay dear?”

“Step down? Yeah, I’m okay.”

“Daddy thought he was being artful when he created that dropdown entryway last year. Now, I have to warn anyone who doesn’t expect it! There’ll come a time we’re sued, and then…
