Reena’s Xploration Challenge #283

Fraud ….by pensitivity101

Reena has chosen a single word prompt this week:

FRAUD
I had a knack for picking up ‘unusual’ things when I worked for the bank, and had contacts with most of the Big Boys, as I was one for them.
Over a period of about two years, I picked up almost two million US$of fraudulent transactions, from counterfeit bankers drafts to stolen travellers cheques.

FRAUDSTER_ Reena’s Xploration Challenge #283

Fraudster ….by Indira

Indira's avatarSharing Thoughts

We have a single-word prompt after a long time, and the word is
FRAUD

Fraudster

He is one of the biggest fraudsters of all time

he does just the opposite of

what he promises in his manifesto

surprisingly

he is elected year after year

no one calls his bluff

because

the greedy voters

allured by his freebies

of electricity

water

etc. etc.

never questions him

though

his freebies are like

cutting a dog’s tail

and feed him as an extra bonus

I think

every country has one

of its own kind

a written statement by a political party that explains what it hopes to do if it becomes the government in the future

When a fraud is not really ( just ) a fraud?

When a fraud is not really just a fraud.

Sadje tells us how and why

We have a single word prompt after a long time, and the word is

FRAUD

➰➰➰

We protect everything valuable

Online accounts, banking, shopping

Everything we guard closely against fraud

We are afraid of being hacked or scammed

We are vigilant to protect what is dear to us

But…………

We often are gullible when our emotions are concerned

We sometimes trust blindly, implicitly those who we shouldn’t

Those who give us a sob story and play a game

They exploit our feelings just like a hacker would do

They not only rob us of our money and emotions

But they also steal our ability to trust again

This is not only a fraud, but also grand theft, a larceny

Watch out my friends against these ruthless operators!

#fake or real# …. by Destiny

Written for : Reena’s Xploration Challenge #283

how does it work
how do we know
if all that we see
is fake or real 🙃

masters we’ve become
at deceiving ourselves
later asking why and how 🙄😁

adorning a smile
clad in confusion
listening intently
to absolutely nothing 🥴

gowned in glamour
decked in darkness
walking down paths
to absolutely nowhere 🤭

blaming reality
we make excuses
faking reality
we deny the truth 🙃

and then a moment
and we realize
simple actions
still create joy
wonderful words
bring a smile 😊
a shattered heart
does still beat 💙
a broken soul
can still breathe 🌹
still we ask
fake or real

in all of this,
what is true and
who’s the fraud… 😉

Moonlight Vs Sunshine ….by Rockstar Girl

Rockstar Girl's avatarWhere Stories Can Spark Their Magic

Moonlight the thief in the night were I was just me who was writing the voices of the lines inside of my story where the sunshine above the surface you may have looked at as someone who had all of the answers and the one person you could have do all of the thinking for you but at night when I am alone in my thoughts that girl is not me she is something else entirely and you may think it is fraud to be someone else than you thought I was but the girl you saw on the surface of the sunshine was not the me that is the one underneath the moonlight but I hoped that in reality you would be able to see the real me because I know that is the person you have yet got to know and hope that she will come back to…

i wish we’d remained untouched
but the evil was pervasive
the fraud perpetrated left us in ruins
gutting our insides
and scarring our perspectives

but we fight
we overcome
and we rectify the misdeeds
restoring balance and harmony
the goodness will triumphantly rise again

The First Financial Fraud

The first financial fraud ….by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

Fraud can be a noun or a verb and if you do something fraudulently, then it is an adverb.  There will always be unscrupulous people around looking for ways to exploit others.  Perhaps the earliest recorded case of fraud in the Western world was that of Hegestratos and Xenothemis in 300 B.C.  A Greek merchant named Hegestratos took out an insurance policy on a boat for a large sum, with the deliberate intention of sinking it.  At this time, it was known as bottomry and not referred to as insurance, and a bottomry bond, is a contract where a shipowner provides his or her ship as security for a loan to finance a voyage or for a certain period of time.  Hegestratos secured a bottomry to cover the value of his boat in case it was to sink during the voyage between Syracuse (modern-day Sicily) and Athens, Greece.  If the ship successfully completed the voyage…

Reena’s Xploration Challenge #283- Who’s NEXT?

Who’s Next? ….by Susan

Susan St.Pierre's avatarSillyfrog's Blog

I wrote a Six Sentence Story yesterday about intrusive questionnaires at doctor’s offices and a possible downside from giving the medical community too much information about stuff that isn’t any of their business. Reena’s prompt gave me a wonderful opportunity to write a dystopian tale about that concern.

Gillian was, and always had been, an exemplary citizen. She believed in ‘goodness’ and honesty because she never questioned the motives of others as possibly being different from her own. She was well-liked and respected in her community primarily because of her uncompromising, somewhat naive, optimism.
Gillian enjoyed a long and trusting rapport with her doctor who had monitored her congenital heart condition since her early 30’s. She’d answered every question posed to her over 20 years there in a thorough and honest fashion because she never…

Th following poem was inspired by this prompt from Reena Saxena, and this prompt from ronovanwrites. I encourage you to have a look at them if you’re looking to give your creativity a nudge. 😉

It’s been said, “Time heals all wounds.”
Look around you; this isn’t true
Nay, mental wounds are more like glue
Tend to stick ‘til given heart’s heed
