Mortal

When I was four feet tall
I believed I was immortal;

that knives
could not scar me

oceans
not drown me

mistakes
not taint me

evil
not weaken me

age
not change me

pain
not
break me

and that strength
would never fail me.

I was confident I would shape
a sensational destiny.

Yet I am mortal after all.
No ogres quake at the sight of my face,
no lame man walked.
no blind man saw.
no orphans were fed,
peace was not restored.
I was somewhere else,
someone less;
not the giant
of my idle fantasy,
only a wind-blown flake, adept
at making a mess.

I do not scream
or beat my breast
yet I bleed.

Ignominiously,
I bleed.

I scrub at the seepage
but it will not come clean,
leaving an indelible stain
for posterity.

In recompense,
the forgiving flowers of my womb

It is an excellent workshop. We choose fabric scraps we like from the heap, and fashion it into outfit ideas. Then, we move to the circular rack with hanging garments, and make our choices a second time. Some of us make different choices the second time. Flash Fiction: Belong

A tale with a difference ….by thedarknetizen

the dark netizen's avatarThe Dark Netizen

I was cast out into the shadows by society, because of I never agreed with its norms.

It refused to accept me into its ranks, and minced no words in letting me know why.

Sometimes I looked different, talked different, ate different, had no money, had a different sexual difference, thought different, just different.

But every time, the simple reason was that I did not fit in the society’s mold and I was kicked to the curb for that reason.

Left all alone, one day suddenly, society decided to walk up to me, offered its help in standing back up.

I spat on the hand of society, for if society is as such, I would rather not belong to it…

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #Week 63 – She’s made of broken promises

A tale of broken promises —- by LadyleeManila

This girl looks like a sad statue
Left to lie in an evil brew
Partial reveries so awe less
She’s made of broken promises

Got no rights to facts in the hood
March alone with torch as she should
Assurance he gave was bareness
She’s made of broken promises

No stability in life
For they always end in strife
And the effect is adverseness
She’s made of broken promises*

* A Kyrielle

For what made him do what he did?
All her heart and soul was given to him
And she has given everything up just for him
Has he reached the point of misdid?

Her honour and trust was broken
Not to mention the heart that was bleeding
She was promised the moon but wasn’t delivered
What he did cannot be undone

And was it abuse of power?
Was the temptation great or was it…

Those face s hanging from the cliff will not let me rest in peace – even in my grave. I can hear silent, mocking laughter every moment. I’m sure this must be Hell. If there is a God, He is mighty upset with me. These people are presumably punished for their crimes. One by one … Continue reading Intent

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #Week 62 – The moon is still dark

The role of Moon in Halloween by Lady Lee 🙂

The moon is dark
I was out on my own
It was a gloomy fright night
Dark, terrifying, mysterious of a night
Zombies abound with their gruesome faces
A cackle from the witch as the moon disappeared
Eerie feeling as the tombstones growled and opened
And they all started waking up and wandering about
The eve of the Halloween and that was what I was scared of
