March Speculative Fiction Prompt

Sadje's avatarKeep it alive

Above is March’s image. If interested, you have until March 23rd to submit a response. Happy Writing!

Here’s how it works:

On the first of every month, I’ll post a speculative fiction prompt from Pixabay. These images are attribution free so you can use them on your blog without worrying about copyright restrictions.

The moon glow

Eerie silence

Not a foot fall to be heard

Taking a tentative step towards

The big moon glowing, obscuring the sun

The light, not silver like moonlight, nor golden sunshine

Still shows her where to go, she steps tentatively

There is no fear in her heart, no loneliness

She may be alone but her soul is brave

She stands tall and waits for the

Unknown, in the moon glow

Challenged

dreams lie beyond Sun and Moon -challenged by light years -uneclipsed by hopelessness -fired by courage   I will lower the stratosphere -or grow tall enough to peek into the rough and tumble of imagination ready to face the unseen   I hope to find something worthwhile -else conversion of nothing to something will become … Continue reading Challenged

Innovation

Overconfidence made him feel good – like he will tame the fury of the steam engine and make it work – in another way. It was a long journey of thought from Michael Faraday to Thomas Davenport – but the electric engine was invented. Innovative minds boost mutual confidence. Parched ground. searing sun. The cacti’s collective yawn. What is a few more degrees to them? Their fibers hoard their water. Their needles guard their excess against the unwary consumer.

Why would they care about climate change?

Escapism

I wonder what peeling the earth will reveal -stormy depths -emotions paling into insignificance   -unseen calm belittling mammoth peace efforts -our pride in humanity melting in co-existence   yet I move away – as lessons follow me afraid of being dwarfed by Earth -my magnificence unpricked https://mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com/2019/03/12/photo-challenge-254/

Breathing free

hold your breath as I exit mine life asphyxiated in a maze of tubes -in the doldrums but the mind runs I crave stability if death offers it I believe in eternity of soul if there’s a way to show it let me go in peace so that we all live -maybe at different levels … Continue reading Breathing free

Leave a light on

Björn Rudberg (brudberg)'s avatarBjörn Rudbergs writings

When you leave me,
please —
spike my gloom
with silver sickle
of a waxing moon
and in the wake
behind you
please —
trickle pebble stars
to guide me through
your night till dawn.

When you leave me,
please —
light me candles
by your bed.

Nude I by Edvard Munch

Today De hosts Quadrille at dVerse, and the word is spike. If you haven’t joined before the challenge is easy. Write a poem in exactly 44 words including the given word.

Believe me

Believe me – I don’t want to spike controversies I’m just being myself living to my heart’s content. There may be no tomorrow for all I know my free spirit hits the walls of your cloistered existence wanting to break free. Believe me…….. will you? https://dversepoets.com/2019/03/11/quadrille-75-spike-up-a-poem/
