Even though hers was a marriage arranged by her parents, she got to choose her life partner as per her liking. She considered herself lucky as her partner’s educational qualification, likes, dislikes, social stature was compatible to hers. She wasn’t compelled to work after marriage as they were from a very well to do family and she thought it was best to quit work after marriage and give her 100% to her new role as a homemaker.

Her initial days of marriage were rosy and colourful as her imagination. She was getting to learn and experience life in a new, never before unexplored way.She enjoyed cooking for her husband and adding vibrance to her home. It was like her life was complete.

Slowly, monotony and a feeling of uneasy regularity crept in. She wasn’t denied comforts, independence, choice, but she felt a sense of hollowness. People envied her for the…

Unknown

driving across continents riding on international law conquering fear of the oblivion risking the unknown   my free spirit hopes to find redemption or salvation -but falls in depths below   imprisoned for seeking a life I hope those I left behind meet a peaceful end wherever they are https://mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com/2019/07/16/photo-challenge-272/

Fury

I watch the fury of rain lashing against my window asking to be let in the environs of my insulated life   I feel the silence of the tempest in the mind tearing me apart the same night …   I walk out and soak myself feeling the unison of the inside and outside https://amanpan.com/2019/07/15/brewnspew-cafe-july-15-2019/

Sunflowers

a lifetime spent tracking the sun in the sky and then turning east again on pressing of reset buttons….   weeks, months, years of keeping a boss happy to milk benefits - changing direction again with the entry of a new tormentor   days never end…..   https://dversepoets.com/2019/07/15/quadrille-83-8th-anniversary/

The Devil wears Red

“Black appears to be your favorite color, Mr.President?” The journo wanted to end the conversation on a lighter personal note. “Yes. It’s formal, it’s dark, it’s distant and honest.” “Honest?” “I’ve never understood why Devils wear a red tie.” https://katmyrman.com/2019/07/16/twittering-tales-145-16-july-2019/

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #95

PROMPT

There are two words given below, with the meaning. Choose any one and write a piece encapsulating the spirit. It is not necessary that the word appears in your piece unless you want to include it. You are brilliant if you can include both.

I doubt that human knowledge amounts to probabilities which are threatening their lives, even, let alone to certainties.
Scientists, wise men etc…going hoarse over water shortage, air pollution, plastic menace, etc. Most frightening is the grave situation we are going to face in 2020. Not that condition is good in some small cities, villages and remote areas.
Their warnings that there will be no underground water in at least 5 major cities is falling on deaf ears.
Politicians are ready to fight over language, caste, reservation or over any issue related to the empowerment of women, minorities but not overwater crises.

I found myself on the psychiatrist’s couch. The person sitting opposite me spoke more like a judge than doctor. “You suffer from eleutheromania.” “How did you arrive at that conclusion – whatever that word means?” “I’ve heard what your family has to say about your rebellious nature and lack of discipline?” “But you haven’t bothered … Continue reading Free

Companions

I wonder if anybody would notice my absence if I disappeared. They are busy searching for a meaning of life on their screens, or trying to forget what they don’t like about their lives – and that could include me. Do I really care? I evade the question. I need a roof on my head, … Continue reading Companions

Utterly Redonculous

Save VJ from going under the rock 🙂 “Utterly redonculous” by VJ Knutson

VJ's avatarOne Woman's Quest

Looking for a rock at present,
preferably a boulder,
might dig myself a cave
and await resurrection

sacrilegious, I know,
but the tasks are overwhelming
and the words – just too much!

I mean, eleutheromania?
The mere utterance enough
to make me run for cover

and now I am to believe
that pulchritrudinous
equates with utter beauty –

oh my raspy voice
stumbles over the words
as brain loudly protests.

Too much, I say –
will have to save creativity
for another day

Meantime,
I’ll be under
that rock.

(Prompts today elicited irreverence:  Reena’s Exploration challenge – see for yourself; and Ragtag Community’s unusual word; slightly tamed by Fandango’s “raspy“. )
