Just Caption It

Just caption it ….. by Jim Adams

“I had no idea that you are related to Benedict Arnold”, said Lois.  Leo responded, “Apparently one of Benedict Arnold’s descendants Benedict III married his cousin Mary Arnold (who was descended from the William George side of the family) and he gained control of the family estate in Norwich, which I am set to inherit next week.  The Revolutionary War general is best known for being a traitor, which is not something that I am particularly proud of and I only found out last year after I had my DNA tested by 23andMe.  Then I joined Ancestry.com and I found a leaf which led me to my ancestors.  I guess it is better than finding out that I was related to Hitler.”

Stone-walled

Stone walled in the chamber I live - ignoring open windows   I heard aeons ago stories of a mirage lessons that got etched in stone   I choose rock-hard security over hints of fresh air changing the horizon   prisoner of my own mindset I’m afraid of being cheated – once again https://scvincent.com/2019/08/08/thursday-photo-prompt-within-writephoto/

Thanks to roller-coasters

Roller coasters start making sense when the churning inside drives one on newer paths. What matters is taking off at a tangent, but the desire for take-off arises only when the comfort zone is disturbed. The new trajectory may take me to another world, but the desire to return to the previous world has weakened. … Continue reading Thanks to roller-coasters

Not fared well…

I am a disappointed parent, unable to see my Harvard-bred smart genes in my child. He is a slow learner, and has been enrolled for several counselling and therapy sessions. His suicide note breaks my heart. The suicide is a well-executed task after gathering a lot of information from the internet. “It took me months … Continue reading Not fared well…

Dilemma

I look for a way out of depression. Moving from grays to colors of hope is a journey. On the way, I meet myriad other colors pulling me in different directions, but am not sure if too much choice is good for mental health. https://only100words.xyz/2019/08/08/three-line-tales-week-184/

A Bird’s Eye View

A birds’s eye view …………. by VJ Knutson

VJ's avatarOne Woman's Quest

It’s a bird’s perspective I envy –
the ability to perch up high,
balanced no matter the weather,
unaffected by the drama below –
I shall never know such calm,
being afraid of heights.

Repository of secrets

“Are the trees guarding territory, or making an effort to break in?” “I presume none. They cannot read the bad spelling, nor comprehend red alerts.” “Nor can I.” “Cheers, my boy! You’ve developed the right mind-set for this job. Now, let’s explore what lies inside.” I’d passed the inane test, but he did not know … Continue reading Repository of secrets

Gone like the wind

“If trees talk, I’m sure they also listen.” “Sure, they do! But will they understand your music? You may be disturbing the peace of the forest.” “I don’t think so, going by the swaying of the leaves to my music.” He was playing the instrument again, and I listened spellbound. The gentle rustling of leaves … Continue reading Gone like the wind
