Only if …. by hecblogger
only if I knew it then
I would never let you go
that we’d never meet again
only if I knew it then
silence can cause such pain
I would let go of my ego
only if I knew it then
I would never let you go

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #105 – PROMPT: “Only if I knew it then” – Wistfulness.

Oh those “only if” or “if only’s” that at one time held me down in such unnecessary melancholy. Through the many seasons of growing I have come to realize that the wisdom I know today would have been futile for me to know back then. I was not spiritually enlightened enough to receive it. I had to go through those years of the foolishness of “spiritual bankruptcy” in order to grow into the wisdom of “spiritual riches.”
Today I have learned not to dwell in the sad longing of “what ifs” and instead use the lessons learned through hindsight that become the wisdom of foresight. By doing this I have broken the cycle of insanity’s “doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result” to a sane mind…

I remember passing through similar fields on a school excursion, and I tried drawing the picture with crayons. Crayon tips are thick, and I couldn’t get the strands right. Later in class, I was sitting behind Gloria Smith, the only one with golden hair in the class. Inspiration struck again, and I tried redoing the … Continue reading Golden strands

Welcome to a new capsule of time!
We frame seven cycles of the Sun, and call it a week. What if it was longer? Would I be hosting one challenge in a week, or more? Mindless chatter J Let’s jump to the prompt.
PROMPT #105
Wistfulness
The rules of the game are the same i.e. no rules. There is no bar on the length or format of the piece.
~*~
If only
Any sentence starting with this phrase
Can be hiding a world of wistfulness behind it
The what if’s, the if only’s are the curse
Which spoil many a moments and even lives
There can be only one reality
So looking for alternate scenarios is futile
What happened or happens has a cause and effect
No one has ever learned to go back and change it

Wistfulness
Only if I knew it then (Wistfulness)
I remember sitting in a night club in my thirties with a friend and her sister and the subject of “only if I knew it then” came up on men and relationships with them. As with many, there had been some less-than-wise choices along the way for each of us. An epiphany struck then, and I said, “If we knew then what we know now, none of us would have gotten married or had children.” As we all love our children, we had a good laugh and then gave it a respectful acknowledgement.
Life is a package deal. The good, the bad, and the ugly come with it, no matter how wistful we get for a chance to re-do some of those less-than-wise choices. Life is a learn-as-you-go deal, and the mistakes are where much of the learning comes from. Having dynamic…

Her father’s love for burgers and wraps in Dunkin Donuts was a joke in the family. He visited the outlet regularly, but never opted for donuts. “Breakfast time”, he would enthusiastically declare as he headed out after his morning walk. “Dad, get something packed for us” was an occasional refrain in the house, and then … Continue reading Donuts and Wraps
