Joe M. measures life …. see how

joem18b's avatarDoes writing excuse watching?

i have measured out my life with coffee spoons
says mr. eliot
his spoons smaller than teaspoons
whereas i prefer a dinner spoon in favor of a fork
and measure out my girth alone with it
i have measured out my life with
steps taken on aching feet

Using My Spoons

Using your spoons …. by Susi Bocks

spoon-theoryInspired by Reena’s Exploration Challenge #108 – 10/10/19

I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.*
Every damn day. This life, a daily grind of excruciation.
Always having to adjust mentally, physically and emotionally.
Moving through my day as cautiously as possible.

Pushing through the pain, feeling productive & proud.
I’m beyond the agony when I’m able.
But some days I have no spoons and I go
Down, down, down into the darkness of the grave**

Ink on Paper

vidur sahdev's avatarVerseInEmotion

Pic: Self

i am
just
ink
on
paper,

i leave
words
that tell
a story
in time,

it
could
be yours
it could
be mine,

in
the end
its all
a passing
tale,

what
it meant
and
what
it said,

not
worth
a dime
in history’s
page,

though
i am fated
to succumb
to an
eternal fate,

but
of what
mattered
i leave
a trail,

i maybe
just
ink
on
paper,

but
its you
that i
leave
on every page.

Only a writer can appreciate the craft of making poetry whatever it is – be it a game of rhyme, syllables, structure, choice of words or a free flow of thoughts. I’ve chosen two short pieces of … Continue reading Reena’s Exploration Challenge #108

Stony silence

imperceptible shifts in the horizon rock watery graves but your stony silence conceals manipulations and conspiracies curated over decades   It is a face they dread watching over surrounding turbulence -but nobody knows when secrets will start pouring out as smoldering lava from a volcano https://scvincent.com/2019/10/10/thursday-photo-prompt-stillness-writephoto/

Nobody’s clone

It is a race I find no place to escape dominance or find prominence   dates are only a number a generation in deep slumber says - those born before will rule for them, life is just cool   Into the world, do I bring some more? make them feel life is a chore… to … Continue reading Nobody’s clone

A semblance of something

“It doesn’t feel nice to end on this note, but I have no option.” “What would you do, if you had an option?.” I can’t help but be impressed by her calmness in the face of a challenge.  “Perhaps, the same thing …” I try to match her equanimity. “Then, feeling nice really does not … Continue reading A semblance of something
