A marriage made in heaven;

The two parts of my brain balance both sides of my personality.

The thinking brain keeps me at an even keel and helps to sort out the practicalities of life. And the feeling brain keeps me human. It can sometimes overwhelm me with emotions but without it, I will be just an automaton!

It’s a partnership that exists in balance in most people, but if we let one part overtake the control of our life…

Reincarnated love

I used to spend an hour on this park bench every evening - petting furry creatures, feeding them biscuits, watching their competitive pranks, smiling and laughing a lot. I’m back there after a decade. The darlings do not come running to me. There are a few loitering around, who have to be woo-ed with biscuits.  … Continue reading Reincarnated love

Non-inclusion

Two faces from history chatted about happenings in the far-off castle. “I wonder what happened to those characters who lived there? They destroyed life on the plains, and then disappeared into their hiding place.” “I wonder if they were responsible for carving us in stone. They missed out on a grand opportunity.” “How?” “If I … Continue reading Non-inclusion

Temple of Thought

A temple reminds me of the Stoddard Temple, which Ayn Rand’s protagonist  Howard Roark built in her epic novel, Fountainhead. It was flat, it was spread out, it was meant to give humans the space to rise.  Then, I came across theories about reverberation of positive energy inside a dome-shaped structure. It explained why places … Continue reading Temple of Thought

Vision

I am the more evolved soul, yet need protection from humans. But why? Because two-legged creatures imagine they own the planet, and love will take a long time to enlighten this species. https://only100words.xyz/2020/01/23/three-line-tales-week-208/

Dynamism

“Dynamism was his middle name, as he never paused to think before acting. The response was agile, and results delivered sometimes excellent, earning him a good reputation. But who says a performer never fails? He met his nemesis in the form of a competitor who set traps for him, and he succumbed to her charm … Continue reading Dynamism

How Does the Heart Choose?

How does the heart choose? by VJ Knutson

VJ's avatarOne Woman's Quest

Set me on a lonely road
and I will shine –
solitude a strength

And yet, I have an inner pull,
a need for connection,
a longing for depths of love.

But what of these dreams –
do relationships deter direction,
and must I always wait on another?

Intimacy is complicated,
the route undefined,
I am chilled, fatigued

How does the heart decide
when love challenges
arrogance, and fear takes hold?

Thawing

“Check the expiry date before you consume that ice-cream. It has been around in the freezer for long.” “I’m just keeping it outside.” “But why?” “You know who is visiting us today,” his look was sombre, “Tell me honestly, don’t you want frozen hearts to thaw again?” For once, I had no answer. We loved … Continue reading Thawing
