Off they go…

She still owns two of those hats, they used to love twinning around in. She offered the hats as free gifts to kids, but those were rejected as being outdated. Kids these days …. There is a lot to learn from them though. Why is she moping around for something that was never meant to … Continue reading Off they go…

Princess

Czar’s nostalgia brought forth a trail of tears which dissolved in dazzling blue oceans   He saw his war-ship Black Beauty sailing over the horizon in search of a wizard to concoct potions of victory in an uncertain world   There are no enemy nations and his purple sword lies unused yet there is un-ease … Continue reading Princess

Sightings … by Aishwarya

Happy Home Page on FB

Days, not so long ago,

Trip to the hills on the cards,

A hilltop cottage,

Promising sightings of wildlife,

Was earmarked,

Images of tigers, leopards on their night time prowl,

Waiting to be sighted by us conjured,

Us, equipped with torchlights,

With coffee mugs by the side,

Ready to sacrifice sleep and spot,

Alas! The mighty cats chose a different route that day,

It wasn’t our lucky night,

But, as the saying goes,

Patience always pays,

We weren’t to be disappointed by a herd of deers,

Who chose the early hours of dawn,

To pay a visit to the riverbank,

Our wildlife spotting wasn’t to go in vain,

If not for the mighty cats, the humble deers graced the occasion.

Self-inflicted

It is terrifying to see him slip into depths of insanity. Others-centeredness has destroyed his core. The youngest child raised in a large, joint family – he was taught that being good meant being obedient and servile. He always needed a god to worship, and a cult to follow. Shorn of deities after his parents … Continue reading Self-inflicted

Reena’s challenge #134 write based on above image.

We talk of communing with Nature, but ’tis with ourselves we commune… Nature furnishes the conditions – the solitude – and the soul furnishes the entertainment.

John Burrough

A lonely, broken down house sat at the edge of the woods, its windows boarded, its roof partially exposed to the elements, its occupants roosting in the rafters or hiding in secret holes bored into the walls. The house could feel the ghosts of past occupants still wandering its hallways.

It wasn’t always so. Seventy years ago a stranger came to the woods, felled trees and lovingly constructed the house with hard work and fine craftsmanship. He had married, raised a family, made the house a loving comfortable home and took care of its every need for decades. But time moves on, as did the children, and when the parents died the house…

Childhood Home

Childhood home …. by VJ Knutson

VJ's avatarOne Woman's Quest

The place remains in my dreams
like a movie set preserved…

Have assigned each room
a critique – disclosed the crimes

Yet, it remains, like a beacon
draws me to it, begs reflection

What if I could go back
now that I can breathe

Now that I’ve laid claim to maturity
would I discover a sudden windfall

makeover conditioned motifs
reevaluate ceiling heights

with resources to remodel
heart open, connected

might I uncover abundance
like a personal embrace.
