Mask

Her mental health showed considerable improvement in the last few weeks.  Thank you notes are sent to the psychiatrist. He asks them to continue the treatment for monitoring further changes. It is a case history he would like to share in medical journals. Nobody thinks of the mask on the wall, which was thrown away … Continue reading Mask

Death

It is a death carefully painted. The right place, time and suit - to get noticed by the right people. Pictures are splashed across social media. People are divided into camps guessing if it was a suicide or murder. Hate campaigns against the suspects are launched. It is the beauty of living in internet times. … Continue reading Death

The Bag Lady’s take on Exploration Challenge #148

Silhouettes against the sun

Seventies dancing has begun

Campfire poets sing their song

“Why can’t we all just get along?”

Smoking weed and carrying tunes

One of many evening Junes.

Reena is the host of Reena’s Exploration Challenge

Welcome back to another week of creativity!

PROMPT #148

I am inspired by the following words, and offer the same as a writing prompt for this week.

  1. Silhouette
  2. Shade
  3. Phantom
  4. Spirit

No, you don’t have to use all four. You can use one or more of the given words in your piece – poetry or prose.

You may use the following images or poem by William Wordsworth as additional inspiration.

~*~

The spirit silhouetted like a phantom in the reflection

Looking back I see just an ordinary woman standing

Can I be dreaming the impossible dreams

Or this the reality always hidden from the obvious

In the shade of towering ego, hide a delicate soul

Trying to break free and be noticed for a change

Ambition

Ambition …
By Goutam Dutta

Silhouetted against the evening sky
That was rapidly changing shades;
From vivid yellow to
Shades of grey,
He sat.
In his hand he held balloons
Fitted with twinkling lights;
Lights that blinked;
Sometimes slow,
Sometimes rapid,
Evidently to soar
A child’s spirit.

The balloon seller boy
Gaped at the balloons with pride
and admiration.
The twinkling lights of the balloons
that he held in his hand,
were like the stars that
he always wanted to reach for!

I ain’t no dupe

“I’m bought and worn, but I ain’t no dupe. You underestimated me, dude,” I chuckled silently as I handed over my resignation. It took six weeks to capture 70% of their client base, given my rapport with them. The idiots did make a counter-offer to retain me, but they had no clue their competitors are paying … Continue reading I ain’t no dupe

Discomfort

She cringed on seeing the large number of people who had come to see him off. Well, it was nice that his employers were sending him abroad at a raw age of 23, and he was the first in the family to fly abroad, but the crowd was kind of too large for comfort. It … Continue reading Discomfort

The Silhouette On The Shade

By Tessa Dean

Full moon glowing on my shade.

Funny silhouettes it sometimes made.

Was that a phantom I glimpsed in fright?

The moon’s glow disappears, reminding me it was night.

Spirits roam through my house.

Quiet as a church yard mouse.

Back to sleep I must go.

Too many distractions you know.
