How do ideas or thoughts to write come to you? Do they come in……

Like a thunder out of the blue, in a flash

and keys type in, at lightning speed?

Like the burning desert sand, under the scorching sun

the thoughts , vent out ,seething ire?

Like the caress of the halcyon zephyr in the azure sky

the thoughts compose beautiful verses of love?

Like the serene waters in deep meditative trance

the words seek to find an answer, beyond cosmic realm?

Like the dull foreboding grey monotone sky

the writings spill out melancholic odes?

Like a long forgotten idea in hibernation

thawed by the warm sunshine, blossoming into a beautiful poetry?

Like the sultry moonlight between the glitterati of twinkling stars

igniting an ardent passion of words, culminating in a union?

Like the downpour from the heavenly skies, nurturing life,

your thoughts ink to inspire and motivate mankind?

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #153 – Thoughts and Words

Thoughts and words …. by Michael

Questions

  1. How do my thoughts get processed into words?
  2. Or do my words spur thoughts?
  3. How do they interact?

Sometimes I sit and think, and sometimes I just sit. (One of my mum’s favourite quotes).

Thoughts are often just flashes in my mind as they travel from one side of my brain to the other. They don’t linger long enough to form into words, but every so often, like with this prompt, those thoughts become words even though my mind is undecided as to which words it might select as appropriate.

Its what makes the process so deliciously attractive. The interaction of thought and word and the sometimes conflict they play out does, in the end, produce something you can be pleased with.

It doesn’t mean one wins over the other because so often we write our thoughts down, we believe we are hitting on a winner only to find…

Thoughts on Words

Thoughts on words ….. by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

Helen Keller knew then that ‘w-a-t-e-r’ meant the wonderful cool something that was flowing over her hand but being able to say this word on March 3rd, 1887 awakened her soul, gave it light, hope, joy, setting her free!  We cannot see thoughts or ideas, but they have a way of becoming words, and when Descartes was contemplating his own existence, he said “I think therefore, I am.”  The human brain controls the vocal folds of the larynx, or voice box and the lip, tongue, and throat muscles, which are needed to produce sounds.  Brain cells located in the dorsal laryngeal motor cortex area encode the command signals that are sent to our mouths, and our muscles move in response to these signals so we can produce the correct words relating to our thoughts.

I imagine that words can spur thoughts, especially when you are trying to say something that is stuck…

Precious Pesky Ponderances

Precious pesky ponderances …. by Susi Bocks

Susi Bocks's avatarI Write Her

Inspired by Reena’s Exploration Challenge #153

awake and alert
the mind focuses
on the tasks at hand
thoughts aligned to achieve results

i am pleased

day dreams slip in
swirling from one fantasy
to the next
thoughts drifting in pleasure

i am captured

sleep beckons my attention
wide awake with intrusion
no, thankfully not tonight
thoughts cease momentarily

i am relieved

nightmares force me awake
jumbling incoherent images
rousing heart-pumping emotions
thoughts gone haywire and weird

i am frightened

always pondering
images, words, feelings
flitting in and about
never-ending and overbearing

sometimes...they land on paper chapters closed and resolved they remain in my heart and mind not quite addressed, fearful of consequences i yell them at the hologram before me the need to purge anger arises they land on my cheeks the need to feel overwhelms i push them into the deep recesses, locked away remaining hidden from…

WORD CLOUD

I tried using a free word cloud generator for the first time, and found this.

IMAGES

I looked around for images that come close to the theme, and found these.

I invite you to apply your creativity, and come out with any form of expression – fiction, poetry, essay, song, art, photograph – absolutely anything that takes your fancy.

So, here you go ….

~*~*~*~

Like a seed when sown in fertile soil

When an idea is embedded in my brain

It slowly takes roots and throws out a shoot

It needs a bit of prompting a little bit of probing

It blossoms into a full-fledged story or poem

Sometimes it amazes even me when it finds expression

I am,

A museum full of art,

A deck full of music,

A palette full of hues,

Surrounded by,

Convictions that echo,

Perceptions that assume,

Theories that convince,

Life is rosy ,

Say the one viewing from a distance, other than you,

But,

How would the one, experiencing it view?

Care to be in his shoes?

What a pandemic

I am a museum full of art, and a deck full of music, but…. Expression will open many sealed boxes, and offend those who are exposed. I shake it all up to see if bitterness can be released. Something is released but evaporates, before I can catch it to identify and destroy. Now, it’s all … Continue reading What a pandemic

Kettled

The politician is trolled for referring to the economy class as ‘cattle class’, and this in a country where a majority cannot afford to fly. He was panning the new cost control measures being imposed on members of parliament. His father watches the news on TV with a fading vision, too old to remember what … Continue reading Kettled
