Welcome back!

People feel brave or safe, when they know there is a network with them, that will stand by them. Let us be that network, be that source of strength to someone who needs it.

PROMPT #187

Well, it was a long write-up. But that quote is the prompt.

We don’t need you to make us feel safe, because you made us feel brave.

♾♾♾

Strong hand protecting and shielding from harm

Not just her own children but those too that are given in her care

Every morning she gets up to face a day full of peril

And changes that day into a day full of possibilities

For those little ones entrusted to her care and guidance

Even when the world was full of dangers of sickness

She and thousands like her showed up at work

So that their charges…

Chirpy Mornings

Photo by Timi Keszthelyi on Pexels.com My morning starts with chirping of birds on the ledge.  They keep communicating, while gorging on biscuit crumbs. At times, they fly away suddenly as my cat, Rainbow barges into the room.  One of the lovebirds is quite bold. She continues to demand fearlessly, about six inches away from … Continue reading Chirpy Mornings

Keeping Our Children Safe

Keeping our children safe ,…..by Jim Adams

newepicauthor's avatarA Unique Title For Me

I never felt unsafe as a child and I do remember doing Duck and Cover drills under my desk at school during the Cuban Missile crisis part of the Cold War.  My parents always lived in safe neighborhoods and I don’t remember that much crime being close by me, so I guess I was blessed.  For a good portion of my life, I lived in South Plainfield, New Jersey and I always felt safe there.  Plainfield, the city just north of me had riots in 1967 and it was just one of 159 race riots that swept cities in the United States that year.  This riot was a series of racially charged violent disturbances that occurred in Plainfield, and it mirrored the bigger riots that took place in Newark.  A fight broke out at a local diner, The White Star and the next night outside agitators came into Plainfield to provoke more violence.  Rioting and looting occurred and Molotov…

Inspired by Eugi’s Weekly Prompt – Happiness & Reena’s Exploration Challenge #186 – We don’t need you to make us feel safe, because you made us feel brave.

always cursing the heavens
while life constantly threw itself at us
but yet
despite the struggles all around
the misfortunes endured
we found our way back to happiness
somehow grateful for the experience
and the lessons taught
the grief of loss
showed us we could endure
the reverent conversations with mother nature
went something like this…

“we don’t need you to make us feel safe, because you made us feel brave“

Reena’s Xploration Challenge #187

Welcome back! I came across a heart-wrenching picture of a drawing by a 4-year old, whose father is battling lung failure due to Covid in hospital. When asked what was it she had drawn, she said “Corona, Corona …. Everywhere Corona.” The entire family was infected, but all others have recovered. Then, I see people … Continue reading Reena’s Xploration Challenge #187

Grip

The lost look in her eyes belied the steely resolve in her mind. A show of vulnerability sometimes weakens the enemy’s defences. She is only getting a grip on the nature of the problem, before she chalks out a plan of action. https://only100words.xyz/2021/06/24/three-line-tales-282/

Connectedness

The patriarch of the house has passed  away, but there are just three people in attendance at the funeral. His children could not make it for the last rites, since flights are not operational between the countries where they reside. The eldest son is shedding a silent tear, as he watches the funeral on Zoom. … Continue reading Connectedness

Leading nowhere

“Looks like the trees fell in yesterday’s storm…” “It is of lesser consequence than the decline in business. I keep cleaning the tables, but there are no customers.” “You never know. Maybe people came to enjoy the shade on sunny days….” “I’ve asked the municipal authorities to get the trees replanted somewhere else.” “Get them … Continue reading Leading nowhere
