stand by me ~ a quadrille

Stand by me …… By s.s.

s.s.'s avatarMindfills

you stand by me in the day's bright sun
or in the pouring rain
with your feet firmed to bear us both
as much in joy as in strife
when life lets us know
we need our souls
to hold hands
and stay
one

The Black Cat

Izzy didn’t believe in luck, until that cat crossed her path. It was the luckiest day in her life, a day she will cherish as long as she lives, and maybe after that. She often sees that cat on the moon, blessing her even after crossing over to other worlds. The mere act of adopting … Continue reading The Black Cat

Dream a little dream

It’s the same old house. I’m on the terrace, ready to take off on a flight, but fall. My wings have failed. I see myself on my destination, jumping through the golden orb into a zone of bliss. Fame, wealth, peace, love all surround me. Then, those dark corridors again…. Which take me back to … Continue reading Dream a little dream

They tell me I’m God What’ll happen when I go? The minions all depend on me I see helplessness, tears flow It’s all darkness out there I cannot hear, I cannot see I see helplessness, tears flow The minions all depend on me I can’t wield power, I can’t roar Who will reap what I … Continue reading Fear of Death

After the initial round of congratulations, she said with a sigh, “One more life …full of promise ….full of potential for disappointment & failure.” She had slipped in a negative mode, perhaps reflecting on her own life. … Continue reading The Candle — SacredCircleforWomen

Cacophony

shrill allegations piercing souls raised fingers I’ll break some day… What are they trying to make me feel guilty about? I want to give them mirrors which show pictures like those of Dorian Gray podcasts which repeat their word bullets smash their eardrums deep sense of inadequacy their egos demand unquestioning obedience as they get … Continue reading Cacophony

Dream a Little Dream…

Dream a little dream ….. by Lady Lee

ladyleemanila's avatarLadyleemanila

Sleep tight my poet for in your dream world you go colouring your sphere whose fleeting tenure not break with wild realm of reality the kiss of the muse and so inspiration comes curdles long life in short time with pleasure, pain, faith, hope and love; I never believe in dreams – they were just for kids like one of their childish games but you came and I’m in flames – I’m still smiling with that beam; now I believe in daydreams hoping you are my mainstream as my heart you have inflamed – dreams to be with you.

To sleep, perchance to dream
Horses gallop across moonbeam
To dream, ah, that is so divine
Sailing across the river Rhine
Where all her thoughts meshed
And waking up feeling refreshed
Playing on each other in different fields
It’s as rough as a public park, the outfield

tiredhamster's avatarVery Important Stuff Here

A couple of stories written for Reena’s Xploration Challenge #194. The prompt was to write something using polysyndeton. I decided to write a couple of stories, 1 long, complex sentence each.

Tactile Night

Couldn’t sleep (or wouldn’t,) so I went for a walk and when I stepped from the warmth of the hallway, the sky launched itself at me and the cold carried me down the street as the branches curled above, and I walked and walked and felt like a strange, grey thing, but then my thoughts slid into the shades as I saw something on the street, a shape stopping beneath a street lamp, its ears poking upward, steam rising around it, and then it rushed towards me, without sound, and I moved in a walk, but then ran, ran, and ran, and my legs slowed and wobbled and shrunk into the concrete, and the creature rose…
